the skil router bit set for 49 bucks is a smoking deal. GREAT bits for the money. i have the smaller 15 piece kit, they've chewed through hard woods, glued wood and plywood and are still sharp. great price. if you need some bits and will be BF shopping, jump on that.

I've been eyeing that bosch 12v drill/impact set (for my portable toolkit) for a few months at the $130 going price on amazon and haven't seen any deals or reductions on it anywhere, so for $100 I might just go for it.

Any thoughts on it? I know the brushless drill would be nicer, but that puts me into more money again.

There will certainly be another $20 off $100 Bosch coming up before the end of the year, if not a better deal on that.

All my Bosch 12v/18v tools were top-notch. I think they're the highest quality of the cordless mainstream tools. It's too bad they don't have the selection of their competitors.

I got one last year, I use it about every other day, Sucking up water and general debris from my garage floor. Use it when I clean the carpets in the vehicles and for hooking to my chop saw or router.
Solid so far, only downside I've found is that it seems to clog easily at the and of the hose(vac side).

*also used it to **** 40 gallons of water out of my basement when my condensation pump on our AC unit clogged. Had 0 problems with it then.

The hoses they sell those with are too undersized to be effective. If you can find a full size (2"?) hose for it, it becomes an entirely different animal.

For household stuff the 1-1/4" hoses work fine. But you're right - any time I have real shop vac stuff to clean up, a 2" hose gets taken out.

Almost anywhere that sells a Shop Vac will have both hose sizes - and both attachment sizes - next to the vacs. Not hard to find. You can also get a higher quality hose (the Shop Vac hoses tend to crush and not return to their original shape) online. Plus having more length is often useful.

good point - thanks for reply (and everyone else)...I can always pick up a larger hose. My current one is going on 10 years and starting to show its age...

2 smokin deals:
Page 6, Werner aluminum work platform $19.97
Page 33, Werner 5ft stepladder $23.97

Heads up! Right now for “pro BF” HD has these Gorilla platforms for $29. The legs fold flat and honestly the older style where the legs don’t fold flat IS kinda annoying (I own 2 of the older style purchased during previous BF’s at $17 or less).

I would at least consider paying the extra $9 for this improved design. Also the legs automatically lock when fully opened and you just depress a button to release them rather than the kinda-awkward style w a swivel eccentric plate and catch.

Any idea how the hose reel with 'hybrid hose" stacks up to the Harbor Freight hose reel with regular hose.

The HF one is going to be 49 on Black Friday vs 59 for the Lowes model. I have a Lowes 10 minutes away but HF is an hour away. I'm wondering

We use 4 of the harbor freight hose reels in our scenery fabrication shop. Two get used all day, the others maybe once a week, and all of them are failing within 1-2 years. The retracting mechanism is fine (not great, but functional). The red rubber hoses are terrible - they dry out and start cracking all over, leaking air from a million pin holes. I have replaced two of the hoses that completely failed with regular hoses we had around the shop, and those have been fine ever since.

I haven't used the lowes option, but it's probably not as bad.

Obviously, others may have had different experiences, but this is what I've found.

HF is rubber hose and has a 90 day warranty.

The Northern Tool Ironton reel is the same price ($50) but has a hybrid polymer hose and 1 year warranty. Use the code "255827" for $10 off $50 to save on shipping. I've been using it for a few months now and have been happy, no issues or leaks. FYI though - it has 3/8" fittings, not the standard 1/4", so you may have to purchase an adapter or a 3/8" coupler/plug.

The lowes black friday ad is very disappointing. Every year they have the same stuff. The best deals will be in January when all this stuff goes 50% off

To those mass meme emails that start out "you will only know this if you were born before 1975" etc, we can add: "You will remember when Black Friday sales were actually spectacular deals that truly could only be gotten one morning a year."

I think it's been 5+ years since I really saw anything that was an "amazing" BF deal. I think the very late 90s to early 2000s were the best BF's. It's mostly a joke now.

I noticed every store in my area only has 4 of those cheap lower-tool chests... Will probably sell out quick even though they don't appear to be that great.

Bosch has a Cadillac feel, the trigger is real smooth and the balance is nice. Cons, it's a 12v but the batt. don't last as long as the 18v. pro its a lithium bat. Great for small jobs, still has lots of power. $100 it's a good deal, not a great deal. Right now you can get a 20v dewalt drill for $99. Both are HD

I'd only get the 12v system if you already have 18v and know what you're getting. 2 years ago I decided to try out the M12 brushed Milwaukee set for a good deal and it came with a free cordless ratchet. I tested it out that night before I went to work and it was too slow and barely enough power at full battery. I knew 3/4 or 1/2 battery.. or a few months later and it would of been useless for my work. (Could have other uses.. but not for my job)

I have some of the M12 brushless stuff now that is comparable to my old M18 brushed stuff. 2 things I really like of Bosch is their 12v screwdriver and 12v 3/8 impact. I haven't used them or held one.. but they look purty smooth.

Yes, I have tons of Makita 18v tools that I use all day every day.

The 12v bosch guns would only be for onsite scenery installations for me, where I need to drill a small hole or screw in some screws or bolts. If the install would require anything more major than that, we would have prepared for it by bringing more/larger drills.

I have very limited space in the pelican case I use for install tools, so taking the massive 18v guns with me is a hassle. The little bosch guns seem like a good size. I used one years ago and I remember liking it, but I haven't really used one since.

Great vacuums. But the latches ****. Did I say the latches ****? They do. Always popping open at the most inopertune time. I don’t have that exact vac but same company and the same latches. They pop loose all the time. The way the cord wraps around it it’s just enough in the way to be able to pop the top back on and relatch so you have to unwind the cord to be able to resecure the latches.
