The Skil saw has decenet reviews... seems like it'd be a good light-duty saw. I have a friend who is a contractor whose go-to is an el cheapo 10", he is usually ripping studs and stuff that he doesn't want to mess with a good saw on.

Though I was ripping 1x red oak yesterday for my new windows/extension jambs and was happy to have the Bosch!

The platform is pretty handy, but a bit dangerous. It uses a active lock that you must engage instead of the folding strut with built in lock design. As long as you remember to keep it locked it's all good. If not, it will be a fun ride, because it will stand up without it. I can see that becoming an issue at some point for Werner. Plus it's only a cheap piece of stamped metal on one side. If I remember right, it only has a 225lb load capacity...

This is like complaining about your shoelaces not being automatic and because you forgot to tie them, there could be a chance you trip on them causing bodily injury. :lol_hitti

Again, I have no experience with this particular saw but my B&D is fine for cutting something that doesn't have to be straight or square.

I'm thinking about that Dewalt 20V Li-Ion drill driver combo. Anyone have it?

I snagged a 18V Dewalt drill with case and two batteries a couple of years back on BF for $99, but I've since learned the non-XRP batteries that came with it aren't nearly as good.

NOT TRUE lithdoc! I'm not a member of Rapidshare so I can download the file but can't read it even after updating Adobe Acrobat to latest version. Some of us would rather right-click to download. It kinda pisses me off because I was trying not to update Adobe. I have my own reasons. :argue:

Thanks for posting the link Burton.

I see the shop vac that was $29.00 last year is $39.00 this year.

http://www.lowes.com/pd_314974-20097-5851511_

And if Uncle Barry keeps printing more money, it will be $59.00 next year... People don't realize how this really does have an impact on all of us. Everything goes up in price when our money is devalued; it's like a big tax on all of us...

Now back to BF at Lowes/HD, seems to me they just discount the cheap **** to even lower prices. No thanks, I prefer to pay a little more for well made stuff; buy it once. Not to say there might be a good deal on something decent out there, but that is the exception, not the rule.

I was in both stores last week, and all the aisle display boxes full of cheap China "tools," it was a sad sight. Looking at how these tools are made, they must be making obscene profits, even with the cheap prices. Who buys this ****? Lowes had one display with a kids tools/toy set, it had metal tools in it and I swear they seemed about the same quality as the adult tools/gimmick tools in the neighboring displays.

I picked up a 13 piece Irwin spade bit kit, $14 down from $27. Overlooked it in the ad but saw it in store and seemed like a great deal.

Hit up Lowes at 5:15am,picked up (4) min LED Maglites and (8) 2-D LED Maglites, along with the little fire safe and the Werner platform.

The 2-D Maglites are the absolute best. I use them almost daily and love them.

Went by today at 1 PM and got two Werner platforms. They said they had sold BOXES of them and had just pulled their last pallet down before I got there. Didn't see anything else of interest. I did notice their Kobalt drill items were in blue and yellow packaging and looked very close to Irwin at a glance.

I bought the Kreg Toolboxx, that was a mistake. I thought it had the micro kit, it has the mini (my fault).

The Complete with the micro and HD jigs and screws is a better deal, as if you added on you'd be at about the same price, and the Master or whatever it is Lowes has on sale will not fit all the additional jigs.

A nice set if you won't ever need the other jigs. :(

Also broke down and bought the Werner platform... I see why people like it. 20" is a GREAT height. Ordered 2 more online!

I investigated the Kregg deal and came to the same conclusion. I called Kregg. The KTC5500 that Lowe's is selling is a special deal just for Lowe's. The KTC5750 is the larger toolbox with all the jigs. FedEx delivered mine on Tuesday! I looked at the one at Lowe's and am convinced I made the right choice.

I just bought it at Woodcraft, it's $239 until 11/26. Returning the 5500 to Lowes!

Your right, they don't seem to have much this year.
Little homeowner sets, and the like. Was better last year I still say.

That is a heck of a discount on that platform. I'll give them that is a good deal.
