Look at the bottom of the price sticker for a little n. That means it is going to be a nonstock item. Some show up and some do not.

I saw mini Sharpies for 2 cents each at my Lowes on Tuesday. They are about half the length of a normal Sharpie, and have a little metal ring through the cap to go on a keychain. Spotted them in a box on an end cap in the tool department. I grabbed 10, a few to keep around the house and in my toolbox, and the rest to give away.

The 337314 1/4" ratchet was on the hook at my store for $20 still. Nearby stores showed them at $12.98. Figured I would ask for the price match, but it rang at $10. YMMV
It was the last one, too.

Still normal price on the wire here too.

They had 1/2" socket magnetic holders for $3, regularly $10 at my store. I bought the 4 they had and I see why they are on sale. The magnets are not strong at all. They barely hold the sockets and don't stick to my box at all. Hopefully I can return them. They are worthless.

Sounds like me and you had the same experience. Went in to check the welding wire saw the magnetic socket holders except I bought the 1/4" but they were only a dollar each. Theyre basically worthless. Howver i did get the big cans of pb blaster for 2.50

That's almost certainly what is happening, just as it happened with electrical tools a few months ago.

The storyline is that people won't pay for quality US-made tools. But they substituted Chinese made tools at pretty much the same price.

The reality is that professionals are willing to pay well over production cost for quality tools. There is profit to be made. But big chain retailers control access to customers. They want the lowest cost supplier, and want brand loyalty to the store rather than to the product.

Precisely. Lowe's Southwire nut drivers are the exact same price as the Kleins at HD a mile down the road. All of the pliers are within a dollar or two for what they were asking for the Knipex stuff before it all went on clearance.

It is all about milking an extra dollar or two of margin out of the sale and has zero to do with people not paying for good quality tools. Otherwise they'd be marking everything down to near HF prices.

All the Knipex and other electrical pliers and stuff in that section have been replaced entirely with Southwire products here too.

Also, I suspect that Southwire paid Lowes a large sum to takeover that display section for their products.

Every time I'm in the store, I take a glance at that section and I never see anyone looking at the tools there. I don't imagine any of the items in that section were fast movers anyway.

I picked up some welding wire from the lowes by church
Prices within a buck or so of Loranger but different, of course. Some stores have it discounted, some don't.
What is the shelf life on this stuff? I didn't have a welder until last year and it is still in the box. i still haven't taken a class or anything.

I saw these at my store for $2.50 in 1/2" and 3/8" tested one on a tool chest and also found that the magnets are awful, but bought a couple anyway figuring I will just screw to wall or even pop rivet to side of box

Thanks for the heads up on the welding wire. I stocked up on tips, cups and aluminum wire at the lowes closest to me about 4 months ago. Now there is a store about 45 mins from me with larger spools on clearance. I was able to snag a roll of the ED023334 for under $12 (with 10% off coupon, and before tax).

Ones I saw in store had magnets missing in sealed box. One store had them for 7 and another 3.15. Maybe its different markets in different areas or just the percentage a manager wants to mark them down

Picked up a 3 pack of 12" DeWalt miter saw blades to go with my new DeWalt 12" miter saw from the other hot deals thread. They're on sale right now for $49. I only needed one 80t blade for trim work, but the cheapest I could find one blade for was $35, so this was a much better deal. I've got blades to spare now...

http://www.lowes.com/pd_468928-70-DW3128P3LX_4294607790__?productId=50063489&Ntt=circular+saw+blades&pl=1&currentURL=%3FNtt%3Dcircular%2Bsaw%2Bblades&facetInfo=

I couldn't find a listing of what blades were included. I see one is 80 tooth and the other is 32 tooth. What is the third one?

Rustoleum paint is/was on sale ~10% off at my local Lowes. Not close-out. At least I don't think it is!

My local Lowe's has all of their remaining Kobalt cross beam combo wrenches on clearance. Normally $12-$18 each, on sale for roughly $7/ea. All were the better quality Taiwan forgings.

I pulled trigger and got it. Had associate check local area inventory and several popped up, so it may be national.

Hmm...I see them available near me, but the price online isn't discounted. I might just have to make a run up there!

Would you be willing to take shot of receipt? I tried at my Local Lowes and they wouldn't discount based on the picture.

Thanks,

Slow.

Here is receipt and sale sticker for the Lincoln Port a Torch set.
nu4y2aqu.jpg

Note: I got additional 10% military discount, so it rang up at $94.18

I called another local store here in Easton, PA. They have in stock but not discounted. It had another item number associated with it and I was told some stores are not carrying it any longer and are discounting it, but the Easton store will continue to stock, but at the regular price. So it was just a lucky hit for me, but still, some stores may drop it too. Also, there is another set Lowe's carries online without bottles that retails at $199, Item #: 486625 Model #: KH777. It comes up online. My set is the KH776 and came with bottles. May have to do with the trend that bottles are usually leased and not owned.
