Mig welding wire on clearance at my local lowes. Only had 1 each of the larger spools, but tons of the smaller ones.

[/IMG]
This must be a local deal. I have checked in my area and there are never any markdowns on this wire. I'm going to grab a box if I ever see it this low here.

went to my local Lowe's in Augusta Maine trying to get them to mark the torch set down and they wouldn't budge. Apparently clearance is by individual store and they won't price match. Grrr, didn't really need a portable torch set, but it would have been nice to have

Last week I talked to the "Tool Lady" at my local Lowes trying to better understand Lowes vs. Lowes price matching policy. :dunno: She said she "always price matches" if you can provide the needed information. I called her on it yesterday concerning the torch set and she said gave me a line of :monkey_po

I walked out w/o the torch set and was ok with that, but I am more confused then ever why Lowes will price match Home Deopt and take HF coupons, but refuses to price match itself. :headscrat

FYI-And yes, I was nice when she said no.......

It comes down to a stock-non stock-clearance status.

Ask for an MOD or ASM.
If they say NO
Tell them Thank you. Then ask them for the 800 Customer complaint line
They MUST give you the numbe. Sometimes that will make them cave to your request......but not always

Thanks Fred for the information. You need to start your own thread on Lowes because you always seem to get great deals.

How do you get those tool bags for $1

Thanks....Tad

I work there so that helps with the answers.

I get the bags because the rest of the stuff gets stolen, and only the bag is left

Looks like they are hanging at 10%. I seem to remember them being a 5% a few months ago. Because of the way these are being discounted, i have my doubts that they will get crazy low.

It is a bit confusing.

I believe corporate policy is that they will price match any store in the same district. The reason for this is many of these clearances are when one store stops carrying something, but not all other stores might. It's up to the local manager and their bottom line what they clearance something out for.

Corporate markdowns should be the same nation-wide. But then the local manager can mark something down further to get rid of it.

I can see if people were complaining about a store on the other side of town having a different clearance price, but your local store has something regular price and a store 1200 miles away has it on clearance and you see it here and people think it's their right to have it price-matched, that's not quite how it works :) (Walmart/Menards/HD/etc. work the same way, though it's worth asking as you will find they make exceptions!)

Yea I saw the socket magnetic tray too 2.99 at my store. They would not stick to the metal racks that they use to stack up all there merchandise. Those pallet racks are thick gauge metal and when I placed them on the rack they would fall. Weak weak magnets

I don't now if anybody posted this already, but I also picked up the 5pc reciprocating saw attachment kit #537049 for $9.97 tonight.

Does anybody know if you can buy replacement brushes and files, or do you have to but another full kit?

Anybody have a clue as to when stuff gets marked down further? Say from 50% to 60 or 70%? I used to have Home Depot figured out with the .06 ending price tags indicating 6 weeks at that price and then .03 for 3 weeks and then it's pulled.

Markdown reports come out on Tuesdays.
That is when the price drops, but it is random. May drop one week, then not for 3 months
Other times it drops every week

BEWARE: Sometimes it goes back up! I have bought stuff on clearance, marked as clearance, and when i decided i could use more went to same store and found it it priced HIGHER. I have learned to buy more and return or have price adjusted rather than wait if it's something i REALLy want

I have seen that too.

A month or two ago I bought a set of combination wrenches that were on sale for about $25 and the package had a sticker that claimed "over $200 value when purchased separately." About a week ago I was looking in the hand tools section and saw the same set had been moved off the endcap (where sale items sometimes are) to the middle of an aisle and the price was now up to $99. I don't remember them ever being in the store before for that price. Strange.:willy_nil

Home Depot does the same they had the 46" Husky Tool boxes for as low as $239 a month ago, now they are up to $299. nuts:headscrat

maybe they clear out some of their overstock then they go back to normal price when they re-cope some of their funds

Prices go up and down every day at Lowe's.
There is one person that is in charge of going around and replacing price labels for eight hours every day. A lot of times they put things on sale to draw people in the store but then the price goes back up after the sale.

Also that combination wrench set valued at $200 was a black Friday deal at $25

Generally but not always the clearance items do not go up in price. They are marked down below cost to get them out to make room for new stuff

Some times they change vendors, packaging, etc and will put an item on clearance then replace it with one that looks almost exactly the same, just with a different part # and UPC. The pipe wrenches a couple months ago were a good example. They clearanced out all the cast iron and aluminum pipe wrenches that had items #'s that started with 33XXXX and replaced them with ones that look almost exactly the same but start with a 46XXXX. Toward then end they had them mixed together, but the 33 ones rang up about 75-90% less. Now if you can find a 33 one mixed in the price seems to have gone back up

Thanks for the heads up on the recpirocating saw attachement set. I decided to pick one of these up. Well worth that price I think for what you get. That marks my first Lowes purchase in about 8 weeks for me since their last round of good clearance deals! - Paul

I picked up the Rage Evolution B (348749) for $50, it's on clearance for $56 plus I used a 10% coupon.

It'll go cheaper, but I wanted to make sure I got it. Not as good as the $79 Evolution 3 I bought from Lowes, but good enough! :)

Here's my favorite.

I bought 133 2x4x16' for $1.25 a piece.

They were changing the SKU so they put them on clearance. Only to replace them with identical 2x4x16s with a new number.

What I have noticed is that when a store's computerized inventory hits zero, the price sometimes defaults to normal. So, if the inventory is not accurate and items of that stock number are still on the shelf they will not get the clearance price because the store computers think there aren't any to clearance. It ***** pretty bad in my store because the employees always end up inventorying old stock clearance items under the new replacement item's number, causing the computer inventory to hit zero when there are still plenty on the shelves.

When I'm in the store early in the morning I see employees diligently scanning every item...I assume they're checking for changed prices on all their section's stock.
