While I was looking up the price of the 12 volt 3 piece drill set I also found that the 18 volt 2 piece set was on sale for $100 down from $150. You guys think that the Kobalt 18 volt set would be better than the Dewalt set that is at Home Depot for $100? I find the warranty on the Kobalt set really good but do not know if the tools are better, equal or worse compared to the Dewalt offerings.

Picked up a few different sizes of trowels today that were discounted about 70% from regular price. If you have a need for any, this would be a good time to take a look. It seems that Lowes is clearing out the Kobalt brand and replacing it with a very similar line of some cheaper tools of the same use, as they have done with other products.

Besides concrete or masonry work, they can be used for other purposes.

I grabbed two of the 5" x 1 1/2" brick and block trowels to use as gasket scrapers, a couple packs of the concrete sponges, and a bronze concrete edger that I cut the turned-down edge off of to be used as a heat sink during welding projects. The grout brushes will work great for cleaning the wheels on my truck for a quarter of the price of the "real" brushes, and look a lot more durable too.

They also had the trowels used for spreading adhesive and other related tools on sale too.

I don't have the item numbers, but search the site for "kobalt trowel" or "kobalt bronze concrete edger" or look in the store near the concrete products.

I bought the kobalt 18v 3 piece kit last June and the drill sounds like a bearing is on its way out. I only use it around the house not heavy use either. I wouldn't buy again. The circular saw runs out of steam if you are ripping sections longer than 2ft it's hard keeping the rear part of the blade from dragging. Cuts 2x4 pretty well but batteries run out too fast at least they charge quickly. The sawzall I don't use too often but it cut our Christmas tree in half with a wood blade and through a solid door slab but it also kills batteries quickly.

Next time I'm I'm going with Dewalt or Milwaukee.

So I assumed these were in the 2014/2015 thread, but after some searching I couldn't find them.

Normally $34.99 each, my Lowes in S Durham still has quite a few of the 3/8" 19 pc sets for $18 (Metric) and $20 (SAE) in blow mold cases. COO is Taiwan and they include 72 tooth ratchets. They have 2 different part numbers each, but they are these:

I got them for my stepdad for Christmas because he wanted a set for his work bag. Not bad for $40 considering you get two ratchets and a pretty good base set of sockets.

SAE: 85191, 86760
Metric: 86759, 85190

They're in there somewhere, they've been that price for a while. Good deal though and those sets are 6-point sockets, short and deep!

I've considered those for a while, but have all the 3/8" stuff I need. Seeing those reduced only teases me by making me check on the 1/4" drive set in a similarly sized case. I grabbed one of those for $10 four years ago only to have it stolen. It was a handy little set and I keep waiting for it to drop below $30.

Yes the form factor itself is worth a bit in my opinion. Being 6 point, standard and deep, and a 72 tooth ratchet in that form factor is awesome.

If I was buying anything else to hit the $65 mark, I'd add these on for the $20 off $100 deal as backups. But I too have a lot of 3/8 stuff.

Picked up the last four 16" x 48" heavy duty Kobalt metal shelves #379133. they were on clearance for $17.99 ea., regular $44.98. not bad for that price, wouldn't paid $45 each. wanted to get four more but no other Lowe's around have them for the clearance price, only full price.

Still full list price in the northwest. I would never pay $45 for a single metal shelf, and I'm not entirely convinced it's worth $18 either, but I'd probably buy one or two anyways.

Well, I was picking up the $9 cord reel and decided to take a look around. I found one of the Kobalt 12V sets under the computer in the tool dept, so I asked about it. They looked it up and looked surprised when it came up at $50. I wasn't sure why, but I couldn't pass it up. To make it sweeter, I asked if they would take a $10 off Northern coupon and they said yes! I briefly checked them out last night and they seem nice, but very light duty compared to my Bosch and Milwaukee 12v stuff. The saw seems cool though. I was thinking I would sell them, but it was then that it hit me...I think I'll give them to my oldest boy, who is turning 8 yrs old next month. He's not really a tool guy, but I know he'll like them. :)

Oh, and I tried to score another cheap cord reel at another store by price-matching, but they wouldn't do it. Oh well

Here's one to keep an eye on. Frigidaire 6,000-BTU 216-sq ft 115-Volt Window Air Conditioner Item #: 416708.
Looks to be readily available in the midwest and northeast. Lowest I've found is $30.00. Looks to be last years model.

IME most brushED cordless saws are battery HOGS meaning battery performance will be an issue when used under demanding loads. Battery endurance improves with the pro brand battery systems but more likely due to larger battery capacity. Probably need to step up to the newer brushLESS saws to see a bigger improvement in cordless saw performance.

not really a clearance or a hot buy, but all my local lowes just dropped all their socket sets and sockets on hangers a considerable amount.

the best of the bunch put chomr universal socket sets at 19.99. thats not bad considering they are lifetime and taiwan. i still dont like kobalt branded tools, though.

Anyone with 18v Porter Cable tools may luck out if you are persistent. I found an infrared thermometer in Americus last weekend but passed on it; found the oscillating tool kit in Savannah today and got it. It was slightly used (has a little drywall dust on the tool and some residue on one of the blades) but still marked at $129 as a non-stock item. I asked for the manager who was only willing to go down to $70. So, I tossed a couple of bottles of clearance skin conditioner on the counter to ensure I got my military discount (the same store has denied the additional discount when given a price adjustment in the past). Not a smoking deal at $63 but it was only $11 more than the PX wants for a battery. This gives me a fourth battery and an oscillating tool, so it was good enough for me.

Otherwise, no smoking deals at the Pooler, Savannah or Hinesville stores. Pooler does have a clearance Porter Cable 3.0 amp oscillating tool on display. It is supposed to be a PCE606 but the label says it's a 605. Savannah shows $17.60 but Pooler shows over $70 and out of stock. It may be worthwhile to point out and try to get a price match if someone needs one.

Forgot to add, Kobalt 1/4" shallow socket sets are $5 in Savannah and Hinesville. Normally $20, I think and still $10 in Pooler.

Well, if anyone is looking for a garage heater, the Mr Heater Big MAXX ones are 20% off at my Lowes, and maybe yours, until 3/2. They come in Natural Gas models with a kit to change to Propane. They also include a thermostat, although I am told adding a low temp. one is something to consider if you want to keep the space a lower temperature part of the time.

Of course you will need venting (A vertical kit is available for $99) and piping for the gas supply and an electrical connection (120V), and wiring for the thermostat.

I just picked up a 50,000 BTUH unit (MHU50NG) for $309.60 plus tax. I see it online for $499.
I got that by getting the 20% off of the posted price of $430, which made it $344, and then used a 10% moving coupon, which also applied to the vent kit and all the other bits and pieces I needed for installation.

If you can't get the 10%, if you charge it on your Lowes card, then you can get 5% off the entire order.

They have larger units too.

I didn't find this online, but by going into the store and asking for garage heaters.

They were on an end cap for clearance items in the outdoor and seasonal section. YMMV.

Another Lowes clearance item I recently obtained is a 200A Square D QO panel.

It was the 40 circuit/30 space main breaker value pack that includes 2-30A 220V breakers and 3-20A 12V breakers.

Model number is QO3040M200VP.

The page show photo of the HOM (Homelite) panel but description and model number and Lowes part number are for the QO panel.

Regular price is $173, and still is at HD. I got it for about $79 and then got a price match to $50 from another store. But it was the last one in the eastern part of the Detroit Metro area. They could all be gone everywhere by now.

They are clearancing because a new type of panel is coming out this year, with the neutral bus bar attachment built into the breaker, so no pigtails required.

Don't know about other panel sizes, but you could check.

I'm using mine for a garage sub panel, fed from the same exact panel (Which will be my main panel), that I bought a year or so ago for $120.

The 1/4" sockets aren't a clearance item. They had this same sale a year or so ago, and perhaps once since then.

The sale lasts a few weeks, and they restock, so there isn't a rush.

If and that's a big if I ever get another cordless saw it will be brushless with a 4 amp battery, of course they will be lithium powered.

The Taiwan wrenches were clearanced out recently to make room for the china ones. I bet that's what's happening with these now also. Although I am aware of the sale you're mentioning.

Picked up the 59.00 air tool kit today. Also found this internal/external star socket bit set, shelf said 15.99 regularly 39.97. It rang up 39.97 but they saw the tag and honored the price.

Last week I ordered a Husqvarna 3100 pressure washer on lowes website, it showed 50% off at the Hialeah Fl Location, but none in stock. The other Lowes locations were at full price and in stock at 499.99.

Normally the website doesn't let you order items that are not in stock, but some how it let me order it online at the 50% off, even added a 10% coupon code. They called me today and I was ready for the we don't have it and will refund your money...... but no the guy on the line says "Hi this is Tim from Lowe's your order is ready for pickup":shocking:

Got it out the door for $228.26 :scared:

Crazy Website look it up near you guys it might work.
