Just went into my local Lowes this morning for a few things and found a clearance rack of Flexon 5/8 garden hoses; 100' for $10 and 50' for $5....

And USA made!

Lol, didn't realize how well regarded they were!

I just needed a long hose occasionally to reach the back of my lot.. Not to concerned about it, especially for the price..

Yu know HD clearance seems way better then the lowes ones. It seems prices are different at each lowes and it's not off that much like HD clearance thread.

I disagree completely. It is not uncommon for me to find clearance items that are 75-90% off at Lowe's. Just have to have the right timing.

Same here. Home Depot in Western WA never has any deals. All of their clearance is 5-10% off and stuff will sit for months.

Not around here... I spend way too much time in both stores and I never see any of the stuff mentioned in the HD thread. Everything is always normal price, or at most 10%..

That Dewalt 8v screwdriver that folks were finding for $20 is still full price at my HD.. Same with the ryobi stand and the Dewalt table saw...

I'm probably better off in the end though, I don't have space for all this stuff!

I don't know about that. I use to think the same thing I got some of the best deals from Lowe's a 100 dollar 80 gallon compressor the 12" Bosch glide miter saw for 140. But I recently got the Dewalt Table saw for free and a Milwaukee M12 rotary tool for 25 bucks so. They are about even now. Lowe's still has the upper hand.

It runs in streaks for me. Sometimes I will get a long streak of Lowes deals, sometimes the same for HD deals.

Lowes is good for clearance searching online. I tend to find more mechanics tools clearance at lowes (Kobalt) versus HD (Husy). The Lowes inventory checker program:

This is the first time HD has eclipsed Lowes for clearance deals, at least as far as GJ is concerned. Check out the Lowes 2013 and 2014 threads, then dig up the Home Depot threads. The bulk of this year's HD thread consists of a handful of lucky individuals who've found the proverbial needle in a haystack. I've driven hundreds of miles searching for a single deal. The best I found was a $1 Plano case and $1.80 magnetized wristbands.

Lowes, on the other hand, is much more apt to virtually give away stuff. I've spent maybe $250 for all of my Porter Cable cordless stuff, and saved around 80% when I bought most of my Ideal and Wiss stuff. I also save about 75% on my Fatmax levels and a bunch of other stuff. When they discontinue an item or switch brands the hunt is on.

Speaking of which, Lowes makes it much more convenient to start the hunt. They give clearance prices and quantities available, as someone else mentioned. Not everything is that easy, though. Non-stock items aren't viewable online and often scan at full retail. For example, Hinesville has a bunch of Porter Cable 18v Clampsaws for $89. They were clearanced at $59 last year before they dropped off the website and saw a price increase. I found a PC close quarters drill earlier in a ragged box that scanned at $79, while my PC oscillating tool was put on the shelf used and marked at $129 (I got it for half of that). I think some store managers cling to one-off items that are long gone at other stores.

From my understanding, no online HD inventory checker works anymore. The only way to check inventory is to use the in-store computer terminal. That is from my recent experience.

Well, to be fair, my experience is mostly with just the one HD near me. There are a couple others around, but they much more of a drive...
I Just get a lot More deals at Lowes than HD .. .

No, just gave the Lowes coupon code ...replacing the "R"s with random numbers. I had to pay full price up front, but they will refund the $15 before it ships. Combined with Giftcard Zen, saved a little over $20 on a $70 purchase. Will be trying this again when I order off Home Depot.com

Since Lowes does not always price match from Lowes store to Lowes store. Has anyone had success buying an item from the store that had it in stock, then returning it to a different Lowes who had a better clearance price, and then rebuying it from that store.

I have my eye on a drill that is $200 off at one Lowes but they are out of stock. Yet another Lowes has one but it is $100 more and that store is an hour and a half away.

Looking for ideas or anyone with some experience. I already tried to match at HD and tried Lowes chat.

It helps if management sees you buying things and asking questions that stump them. I know it doesn't seem like it would but there are 2-3 Lowe's I go to depending where in town I am and each of them have done this for me. They have also seen me buy hundreds worth of lumber and materials at a time, and several power tool purchases whether or not on clearance and whether or not they adjusted anything on the price for me.

A Lowe's credit card can't hurt, if you do that sort of thing.

Bottom line, money talks.

Delfonik, thanks AGAIN for posting the codes. Last weekend I needed 18 sheets of OSB. Placed three orders of 6 each in order to cash in on the 15 off 50. Went to pick them up and the CS person said, "oh we thought that was a mistake cause they were all the same order" I kindly pointed out that they were all paid for....she saw the light!
