I tried for the first time this morning and didn't have much luck. My store had 1 Bostitch compressor and nail gun pkg (that others have purchased under $100) on "clearance" for $209. It was also the display model. I went to customer service and asked if they would match their online price and one lady said "yes" and the other said "which store, is it out of state?" I showed her the one in NC for $59 and she noticed immediately that it was out of state. They called the manager and asked what he'd do for me (lady that called put zero persuasion into the request to the manager) and he said $150. I passed.

Like most things, I'm guessing it'll depend on what the item is, quantity on hand, how long they've had it sitting on the shelf, how much the discount would be, who's trying to help you get the discount, who the manager is, what mood they are all in on that particular day, whether they think you smell nice or have bad breath, etc, etc.

Worth a try but the response appears to be far from standardized.

It is that way all over in the "Lowes" "Home Depot" world. I do not understand how they call themselves a chain store when everyone acts "Independantly"

I wish Mendards carried a better tool selection, I would be in there every week. ( I guess I already am ) lol

Just made a trip to my local Lowes. They had the Irwin powerslot cutters for $6.98 for a few months. They showed 3 in stock but when I asked a couple weeks ago the guy in tools said they couldn't find them. Well I was walking around today and saw the 3 on the shelf with no price tag. My excitement was soon ruined when they rang up at $34.98. It figures they'd raise the price back up once they found them.

This has been posted before, but still showing tons of these in my area. Funny thing is, my local store is always sold out of these, while others around are showing 100+ in stock.
I bought one of these to see how well it did. The light output is concentrated at the end of the bulb, opposite the base. I put it in a horizontal mount ceiling fixture, and points parallel to the ceiling. It isn't instant-on, but has a delay of about a second.

Re: Bostitch 0.8-HP 6-Gallon 150-PSI Electric Air Compressor

Unfortunately none in stock but if anyone finds one and can get it price matched here's a good deal.

This all looks weird on my computer so I hope it makes sense when I post it.

found one today at a store that had cancelled my original order saying they couldn't find it. The box is VERY similar to the one that replaced it only a minor change on the model number.

Well I have the ridgid 6 gallon vertical pancake compressor. It's not the lightest, but easier to carry around than a normal 6 gallon. Aside from the Ridgid, if you really need something lighter I would check out an aluminum tank California Air compressor

What part is aluminum, because those bits look awfully white!

Didn't see a response to your question, but might have missed it...the bits are chrome coated according to the website. I picked a few up yesterday; they feel decent in the hand and are well worth $3. I don't know if I'd pay $8 for one, though.

I picked up the bostitch and will check the weight tonight. But if you will be using it a lot you may want to pay extra for aluminum tanks. The difference is amazing.

Same is true of ultra quiet feature if you want that. You will pay a premium but the difference is significant.

I had the same thing happen to me with regards to a few aluminum pipe wrenches. I did the online chat on the lowes website and they stated that while the model numbers were different, it was the exact same product in store and they honored the lower price.

Per the box the compressor is 32 pounds - empty (kidding!) a similar porter cable looks to be about the same weight.

you might be able to go with a smaller tank size to save weight, depends on what you are doing.

anybody know what their plans are for revising the pneumatic nailer section? my stores here in the midwest have had "new" brand-specific endcap displays for quite some time, but now they're ripping apart the pneumatic nailer aisle in the tool corral. they have signs around mentioning that they're rebooting the area, whatever that means. right now it's a mess and nothing is marked down.

Disturbing trend.

I guess the idea is that they don't have to match each other on power tool prices anymore, and better contracts with exclusive distribution.

Not that I buy much at HD/Lowe's in the power tool area to begin with, but as a consumer, it's not good for anyone (except the corporations, of course).

Pretty neat - I just wish it was all contained in a portable tool kit.

Here's a larger version of the Irwin picture from the Lowes site. The gap in the pliers and cutters is a little disconcerting. I hope they just aren't closed all the way.

$29.95 near me.

Usually these kobalt precision sets fit in a "slider" pencil case pretty good. Sometimes you can get them for under 50 cents during back to school. Not that that's what I use but still...

They had discount light fixtures on a cart by front door with 50% off clearance price.Bent irwins are down to $31.98.

Thanks for the heads up on the Irwin Bent Nose 1902419, I had purchased these a few month back for $39.98, and I see them at a store near me for $29.98, so I am getting a refund on the difference. Much appreciate it as I can use an extra $10 in my pocket and still have an Awesome tool made in Germany :) :)

Other than very specific instances where you have clearance issues, is there really any benefit to those bent nose irwins over a regular straight set of needlenose?

I have about 8 or 9 straight ones already.. don't have any pistol-grip yet.

Trying to come up with an excuse to get one of these.. but I'm sure 99 times out of 100, when I need some needlenose pliers, I'll grab a straight pair out of my box over these.

I have seen those at mine and I was wondering how well it works, I use a tiny screwdriver every day at work wiring up panels.

Pulling fuses. Soldering wires. I went with a much cheaper brand because of limited use.

This was at the Camden SC and SE Columbia, SC stores. I'll post a receipt for price match later if I remember.
