the first store I grabbed the 49pc set from had 5 in stock buried behind the newer model numbers... it now shows 0 in stock and I only grabbed one. Yes they will sit on stuff and hide it until it hits rock bottom and then buy it.

I even had a cashier ask if she could have one of the items last time they did this with the ratcheting screw driver sets. I couldn't find them after they hit $8 when I picked up a set for my self and another member. The store showed plenty in stock at the time. 2 weeks later I found 3 them on the other side of the store hidden behind light bulbs of all things..

I had the same experience. I had to hunt around the store for about 30 mins before I found the set that I got. Pretty shady...

I was at the Lowes in East San Jose looking at the sockets and extensions and 1 row over from me, saw an on duty employee on the ladder getting the hidden stash down from the top storage area for 2 co-workers who just got off work. They hid plenty of stuff up there from ratchets, wrench sets, to all the Blue Hawk ****. They were talking to each other about who wanted what from the stash. All the while the display area of where the products were supposed to be was picked clean.

One of the 49 piece sets I found was mixed between a few of the new identical sets. Website was showing out of stock and back to full price. Asked the lady working in hardware to scan it and she immediately got frustrated, asking "where did you get that?" about 5 times. Apparently I got the one she was hiding. I actually told her, "oh, was this yours?" She didn't seem impressed

I wonder what corporate would say about that.

happens every time I order a deal online. the only reason why I ordered online yesterday was because I knew it would be slim pickings by the time I got out of work.

Greenland NH is still showing a ton of the $1.50 and $1.95 sets of pass-through sockets, but they were nowhere to be found yesterday. They're hiding them up in the overhead behind the sliding covers.

made a late run after work last night and my local stores were wiped clean. but... be sure to look a few aisles away! I found 11 of the 34 piece Kobalt wrench sets sitting in a dusty corner of the tool coral, unnoticed, and not in inventory. Picked them up at $6 each. You should have seen the look I got from the employees in the tool section!

I also have another long gone larger clearance item to go back and check today. Only problem is it is showing full price and zero in inventory. I will do my best with the tool manager. I still have receipts from July showing the clearance price.

1. Stopped by to get some for my brother. Two old guys that always work the tools section are standing in front of the socket racks putting items in a box mumbling back and forth. Why wait until the store is open to hide stuff? Idiots.

2. All the bostitch trim nailers have new lower prices on them. 20-30.00 cheaper.

Ill hit a local Lowes today but I have a feeling Ill see the same as you guys: stuff thats supposed to be there but mysteriously isnt. Kinda weak, I dont want to resell the stuff I just want a couple/few sets so I can throw them in my vehicles.

Thats part of the reason Im not a fan of Lowes....never been able to squeak many deals through there, even if the stuff is clearly not a price mistake and they have plenty in stock. All of a sudden the order is cancelled for pricing reasons or they didnt really have any. BS.

You know I went last night got a whole set of crowfoot metric and SAE, whole set of swivel sockets metric and SAE. Also got 4 of those 34 pc wrench sets, for gifts, and two speed handles. I don't see it worth getting pass through stuff. As for the Blue Hawk, did't touch it, don't see much worth in resale of that stuff, maybe garage sales you can sell for 10 to 20 bucks on each.

Around here, all the out of work "entrepreneurs" will pick the shelves clean while everyone with a real job is at work. You will see them pop up next week on craigslist promoting what a great deal you will get...

If anyone gets a spare 15 mm crowfoot wrench and wants to get rid of it, let me know. I bought them all but it a few days ago and all my area Lowe's are cleaned out.

Thanks guys for the heads up on the Kobalt clearance stuff. I was able to snag a bunch of stuff this morning at the North East, MD store (21901). For anyone else in the area, there was still a bunch of stuff available. Extensions, flex socket & crowsfeet singles, Xtreme Access socket sets, etc. The Middletown, DE (19709) store is also showing stock online, but I didn't go down to see what they actually had. Hopefully someone else can snag some good deals.

Left of the speed handles is for me, to the right is for my Father-In-Law. I've been helping him go through his tools and organize/clean up/update years of disorganized chaos. These will make a nice addition to his main tool cart. Still haven't decided if I'm keeping the speeders or not yet. Nice pile for $76.

I'll keep an eye out next time I've over by my local Lowes (probably later tonight or tomorrow). They had a bunch as of this morning, but no telling how long they'll last.

Thanks for the Kobalt heads up. Didn't get the big sets, but bought a lot of nice stuff for ~$18...

Now, to see if I can actually pick it up, or if it mysteriously disappears sometime between now and lunch.

Harper Woods, MI store late last evening.

A bunch of employees from all departments hovering in that section.

All the Kobalt except Access stuff gone. No access ratchets except 1/2"

Some Blue Hawk on the shelf, in the overhead and tucked in the store computer cabinet in the tool section.

Left all the access stuff in a cart, since no ratchets available, except in sets that were not marked down.

Bought $14 worth of Blue Hawk for around the house use. Probably shouldn't have. Might use as gifts or give to neighbor.

surprise surprise. Ordered 6 things, including one that said there were 6 in stock, and got the call that nothing was in stock. Lovely.

Ok I broke down and got the 1/4 3/8 and 1/2 max access sockets, they were like a 1.95 for each set? I got the 3/8 and 1/2 extreme rachets. the 1/4 inch was at full price. Also got like 10, locking extensions, wobble extensions. and a swivel head 1/2 ratchet all for 30 bucks.

A-lot of my stuff were still at last clearance price and not marked down to the new price.

Just got back and had a great manager who worked with me. Found one of the old bostitch compressor sets with three nailers and he matched the lowest online price currently showing. So he marked it down from $275 to $69 - I will give that store more business!

I bet if you scanned the 1/4 ratchet, it would be $2.

On the website if it's out of stock, it jumps back up to full price.

I found one of the 49 piece xtreme access sets at a store that was out of stock, showing full price on the website, but scanned at $12.

Picked up $42 worth of stuff last night, might go back today and grab SAE flex sockets and crowsfeet if they are still there.

Which Bostitch set is that?

Always wanted a portable compressor, dont need the guns but 69 bux for the compressor is great especially if I could re-sell the guns

if the link doesn't work change your store to w boca raton fl - some stores that don't have it won't show the item- they have the lowest price and show one - they might ship.

Bostitch 0.8-HP 6-Gallon 150-PSI Electric Air Compressor
Item #: 498816 | Model #: BTFP72646

note that there is a newer set that replaced this. You can spot the old ones in store because the box is about an inch taller. That's how i happened to spot it.

I found an old Bostitch compressor + 1 nailer, I think in Salem or Bedford, NH. It was way up in the rafters, and had "Display model" written on it. The employees wouldn't get it down for me, it wasn't in their system at all, so they would have had to either add it to their system or sell it under a generic SKU, but they didn't want to deal with it.

Model number CPACK1850BN item number 299318

Thanks for the heads up guys. I just went over there. They had a surprising amount of stuff left. There was one other guy there grabbing everything he could get his hands on. He said these will make nice Christmas gifts. I didn't reply but was thinking I'm sure individual crows feet and extensions are going to be gifts. I bet if I look on Craig's List those will be there tonight. If not there then Ebay. I hope he has to give away all those Blue Hawk wrench sets. I sure didn't want them. I did pick up a swivel ratchet and a few extensions that were in the wrong places.
