I bet he can't giveaway those speed handles. I have several from over the years and only use them rebuilding engines.

Don't really need the tools, but it's hard to pass up a bargain. This reminds me of the great Bessey closeout of last year @ Lowes.

Paid just under 60 bucks after tax.

I bet if you scanned the 1/4 ratchet, it would be $2.

On the website if it's out of stock, it jumps back up to full price.

I found one of the 49 piece xtreme access sets at a store that was out of stock, showing full price on the website, but scanned at $12.

Just returned them and got the kits in boxes with the ratchets.

573353 $3, 573354 $3, 573355 $12 all three for 18 dollars plus tax

It's like an Easter egg hunt. Trying to find the employee's hiding spot where they've squirreled away their stash. I still can't believe how wide-spread it is. And how hey get away with it so blatantly.

The 49 piece is the only one you need, and also if you can still find it, there's a few individual pieces that you can add to that set, such as these:

quick release adaptors:
http://www.lowes.com/pd_55370-25428-86891___?productId=3773415&pl=1&Ntt=kobalt+xtreme

socket adaptors:
http://www.lowes.com/pd_44106-25428-86876___?productId=3773401&pl=1&Ntt=kobalt+xtreme

bit adaptors:
http://www.lowes.com/pd_45496-25428-86878___?productId=3773405&pl=1&Ntt=kobalt+xtreme

I don't believe those come in the set. Also, make sure you grab a couple extra extensions.

I personally don't have a problem with employees buying good deals on break/lunch/after shift/etc. But for them to hide items so that customers' orders get cancelled, that should be stopped. When I worked at Sears, our store would be punished if we had to cancel orders if items couldn't be located. It sounds like Lowes needs to do the same.

yea but but the ratchets are smaller and with all three kits x 3 ratchets plus cases it will work.

the 3 ratchets that come in the 49 piece kit are smaller than the ones you buy individually?? i'll have to take a look, didn't open my kit yet. luckily I bought 2 individual ratchets plus a couple of the smaller kits. couldn't find an individual 3/8 ratchet.

No what I meant to say they are three different sizes, that 49 pc set was at 49 dollars. The 3 I purchased were 18 total and in individual cases.

I saw a few of those 3/8 drive flex sockets yesterday. I picked up a 10MM and a few 12MM. They had 17MM and 19MM also. What do you guys think? Are the 17MM and 19MM in 3/8 useful?

So I ordered a bunch of random extensions from 2 different stores, maybe 6-7 pieces at each store.

One store fulfilled them all, the other store called me and just said " yeah we're out of stock " , I said "of every single one I ordered?" - "Yes, all of them"

Lowes conspiracy in full swing.

Yeah, I got several of those phone calls from various local stores. I think what they meant to say was that the employee fulfilling your order decided to keep the stuff for himself. :shocking:

Went by the close one at lunch, and, sure enough, almost everything was cleared out. Lady there said people loaded up shopping carts full yesterday. Oh well.

The kicker for me, is that they actually 3 of the Irwin/NWS power slot pliers that every body else has clearanced for stupid low prices, except they are still full price.

My store actually called me yesterday and told me those were pricing errors, so they couldn't fill them. I went to the store and those same prices I paid online were posted on the items. If they were actually price mistakes you'd think they'd pull the price tags. :headscrat

Never wanted a speeder, never needed a speeder, but for $3....I bought a speeder. Picked up some blue hawk stuff for the car also just because it was too cheap to leave behind.

Confirmed. Once the employees know about it they make a bee line to get them for themselves. Talked to a few employees at different stores.

My main store dropped the prices on the loose stuff today, crows feet and flex sockets so I finished out the set tonight, extensions and ratchets cleaned out all ready, Its odd that kits in that store are still near full price for the xtreme stuff and the Kobalt Standard (SAE) and Metric Mechanic's Tool Set (80-Piece) Item #: 229157 | Model #: 86216 is still full price in plain view sitting there looking old and dusty as hell lol. $80 in this store, $12 in the one's I hit last night.

what number is molded into the bottom of the tool case? ... I do think some stores really had a pricing error on these, slapping the clearance sticker on the new sets... I just looked at mine and noticed the case has the new item number on it vs the old one. 379758 vs 573350.

All the stores now have it at 79.99 and in stock.

Around here, all the out of work "entrepreneurs" will pick the shelves clean while everyone with a real job is at work. You will see them pop up next week on craigslist promoting what a great deal you will get...

Everybody on here should bombard their inbox with ******* questions...

I wonder what corporate would say about that.

I'll promise you that if enough people on here start calling and e-mailing complaints, something will change. But as long as the big house never hears the complaints, it will never change.

Don't get me wrong, I suppose it's ok for a store employee to get an occasional deal, but rat-holing all this stuff by the cart load, is ********.

That story on here awhile back about the employee that stole the roll of wire that the manager allowed, is what set me over the edge about this.

I'm with you and I am sure it will take numbers. when I was dealing with corperate all they did was refer it back to the store manager who obviously was in on the whole thing.

The kid at the register was pretty green. He said he planned to get some wrench sets for his brother and was surprised when someone came in and bought 1 of everything. When I said I had already been to another store, he asked me what they had left.

I think I heard the 2 guys in the tools sections talking about the stuff they had stashed and who had what.

I called their 1-800 number today and told them that most of my orders were canceled. I told them that I saw an on duty employee handing out the hidden stash to off duty employees damn near right in front of me at their East San Jose store. I told the rep there's no point in having a sale if the employees stash all the good deals away for themselves. I had probably 90% of my online orders canceled because the store called me and said the items were out of stock when in fact the online inventory clearly showed in stock when I ordered. I said to the rep that most people are fine with employees buying the discounted items like regular customers but they are not ok with the employees hoarding almost everything in storage.

I also told them that this is very common across all Lowes stores across the country, as many of you have experienced. I referred the rep to the forum where they can read about customer experiences with order cancellations.

I can say not all the people at lowes are jerks. I went into a local store when they had diamond grinding wheels on clearance for like $5. That was an outright steal for dewalt branded ones. I had the guy go up to the rafters where they store them to grab me one, he asked how many I wanted and I just told home one, his response was "these are real cheap, you should take them all!" I just told him I only wanted the one and maybe it can make some other guys day. Maybe that guy was him, maybe it was some other guy that re sells them, who knows but that guy's always been good to me. Now a different lowes down the street is the complete opposite, they're always pulling some **** about stuff being out of stock after I get the pick up notice. That's when you know it's a scam. If you get the pick up notice, it's been pulled, so someone took it right out from my order.

Today I went into a Lowe's that I recently had an item "lost" and "canceled" at...there were three members of the staff in the aisle I wanted to look in. They were looking at on-sale wrenches, I noticed the sets were not complete. They started sorting what was there and they couldn't complete the set. So one grabs a phone from their pocket and makes a call. I overhear him talking to a customer and apologizing that they don't have a complete set. He told her that she could come and look what they had or he could give her a refund. He didn't mention that him and another staff member were literally on the floor trying to piece together a complete clearance wrench set. Faith restored in humanity, there are SOME good employees at Lowe's, probably not a lot(Based on my experiences) but there are some.
