My biggest pet peeve is that they'd lie about it and they'd cancel the order. Seems morally wrong, but that's more of a personal values thing. I also worked retail when I was younger and I can say that I didn't hoard deals, although there were some that did. It's more or less up to management to decide upon how much they'll put up with.

My local store was pretty much wiped out. Looks like the closeout pricing was limited to their Xtreme Access line of sockets, swivels, and ratchets, plus standard locking and wobble extensions.

I called their 1-800 number today and told them that most of my orders were canceled. I told them that I saw an on duty employee handing out the hidden stash to off duty employees damn near right in front of me at their East San Jose store. I told the rep there's no point in having a sale if the employees stash all the good deals away for themselves. I had probably 90% of my online orders canceled because the store called me and said the items were out of stock when in fact the online inventory clearly showed in stock when I ordered. I said to the rep that most people are fine with employees buying the discounted items like regular customers but they are not ok with the employees hoarding almost everything in storage.

I also told them that this is very common across all Lowes stores across the country, as many of you have experienced. I referred the rep to the forum where they can read about customer experiences with order cancellations.

Then they laughed and hung up

If you guys actually need any of this stuff (mainly the sets), get an employee to look in the overhead storage behind the sliding covers. Guarantee you there's still sets that either they didn't take out yet, or that some employees are hiding. You just have to pick the right employee to look for you, such as a girl who probably isn't interested in tools or the old guy who could care less.

If you just want them for re-sale, I wouldn't even bother. Ebay is flooded with this stuff now. There are currently 1881 listings for "Kobalt".

This! I placed an online order for the 49-piece kit and received the pickup notification. Prior to picking up at customer service, I went to the tool department and noticed they had 2 of the 49-piece kits in stock - one with the old/discounted SKU, one with the new SKU (and a shelf sticker of $79.**).

I grabbed the old SKU and some other misc items and went and paid for them. Also told them I was there to pickup an order. They couldn't find the order at customer service, so they called Tools and asked them to pull the order. I figured since I grabbed the last of the old SKU, I'd get the old "sorry, we don't have that item". But lo and behold, up comes the old tool guy with the set (old SKU). He mentioned it was a great price and went back to the tool dept. Wondering where that one was squirreled away, probably in the overhead bins or someone's personal stash.

At the end of the day I got a 49-piece set for me and one for my old man for $24 total. Not sure when I'll use it, but even one time should pay for itself.

I was just in the Champaign IL Lowe's about an hour ago. They started marking some of that stuff back up. I figured that can't be right and grabbed 3 things and scanned them. Sure enough the prices are going back up. They did that around the first of the years also. I guess once they sell down to a certain point it goes back up there. I checked the SKU and part number. The same ones were 1/3 the price yesterday. They did still have a lot of Extreme Access and drywall stuff there. I would love to scan that whole section. I bet several prices are wrong.

That's funny. I had the EXACT same story. Ordered 49 piece online, got pickup ready email (and voicemail). Went to store, noticed 1 of the old SKU models mixed in with the new ones. Grabbed that then went to customer service to pick up my order. My order was NOT behind customer service where they keep all of the internet orders. They called over the tool guy, who says "let me go look for it". He goes somewhere around self checkout and gets my order. It was actually pulled for me (had a slip on it with my name and order number), but I thought it was weird that it wasn't behind customer service. I should have gone and checked where he got it from. I'm guessing there's a big hiding area.

At my Lowe's they have a cage to put internet orders in. They rarely ask for ID which pisses me off a bit.

My store was pretty picked over but I did get the 573353 set but it was $9.99. I also got one of each of the available crowsfeet.

Anyone know if the strike tool is still in stores? I can't find it online.

There are several of the various types posted in this thread in stock(and on clearance) near me(Tampa, FL). I'd offer to pick you up some but I won't be in town this weekend.

Anyone have a 10mm flex they want to sell? I was able to scrounge a few stores and pick the others up. I'll wrap up a 2x4 of your favorite beverage and send it too :D

What is happening with the Kobalt stuff. Is Lowes getting rid of everything Kobalt? Or is this just reducing stock of specific items?

Probably switching suppliers again. And not for the better more than likely. We have already seen a switch in some products from Taiwan to China. The wrenches and bit sockets come to mind. They are probably going to someone cheaper.

Some yellow clearance price stickers are scanning at higher prices. Need to watch for that during checkout.
Found this nice kit for $5.99 which includes all the extra adapters you want. The new versions of the same kit are $20

Prices doubled at my store

Can confirm the price hike at stores within the Washington, DC area. Went to my local store last night, as well as a VA store this morning to look for a couple of extensions for my son (found both - one via on-line order at another MD store, one in the VA store). While at both stores had a conversation with clerks which I have the luck of befriending. Both advised that shortly after the drastic reductions the stores were contacted by Corporate and told to raise the prices - especially on the tool sets (seems that they were not as worried about individual pieces). Both of the individuals described the flurry of activity as a "one day sale" and that prices will and/or have gone up accordingly. One of the gentlemen, VA Store, advised he was expecting to receive more stock of the Extreme Accress items - albeit they will be the "new" stock items (i.e. the difference noted with the SKU's for the two 49 piece sets). So we may not have seen the last of the Extreme Access merchandise, but we have seen the end of great prices at least for the tme being.

BTW - I look long and hard in my area for the old 49 piece set - with no luck. I did however get the newer set - about a week before the sale - for $30 from the manager in Largo, MD to make up for a on-line order that went bad. That set is destined for my son's garage - I have the previous sae/metric pass through set - 79 piece that Lowes had prior to switching from US made tools. I am guarding that one with my life as the sockets/ratchets can not be replaced (son broke the 1/4 DR 9mm socket - Tool Manager told me he would have to replace the set as the sockets have changed, and noted that they no longer had a similar set in stock. Found a socket at Sears - spent .89 for it and I am happy.....

I'm coming up short finding any current online codes for 20 off 100 and / or 50 off 250.

Does anyone know if there are any out there that haven't expired?

I ordered about 40 items online from lowes to get these sockets. So far today, I have gotten 4 boxes and 5 items. I have gotten a ton of "order shipped" emails. So I guess I will be getting several boxes over the next several days

They actually shipped your discounted items? That's... amazing.

Same here and the ones on clearance are almost gone. Should have stocked up when I first saw them but picked up a few swivel adapters and 2 extreme/offset wrenches in sizes I regularly use. Not bad for $5 overall.
