Ugh, they screwed something up on the Lowes site. Used to be able to go to a product page, change locations, and still end up on the product page.

Now when you change locations, it brings you back to the Lowes home page. That gets annoying when you're trying to compare prices at different stores.

Still works for me the way it used to...

Picked up these today for $1.49 each. Made in Taiwan and seem to be good quality. They just happened to have 1 of each left!

same here but only 4 sizes, My ******* picked up two 7/16" by mistake and forgot the 9/16 when they where first posted. Went in to day to pick up some led bulbs they had on sale and checked the stock, only 4 left, went from 90 cents each to 1.49 and not the size I forgot to grab.

they still have one 80pc mechanics tool set Item #: 229157 | Model #: 86216
for 39.99 down from 79.99 in lawnside NJ if anyone local is looking its not on the website though. I grabbed one for $12 in another store when it was first posted but no idea how long it will take to drop that low, it was full price when the other store had it at 12 and this is the first price drop I saw. Not a bad kit for keeping in a car since its a flat zipper pouch. 3/8" and 1/4" sockets up to 3/4" and 18mm, 3/8 ratchet, 1/4 inch adapter, bit driver, along with a 14pc wrench set. 7 SAE, 7 metric.

Same store has the spline ratcheting wrenches hitting the first mark down stage, but the sae/metric spline design would keep me from grabbing yet another ratcheting wrench set.

Those Kobalt 72 tooth ratchets are really great quality and perform like much more expensive ratchets. I'm always impressed by the quality every time I use mine.

Got a link by chance? Tempted to check them out, though SAE/Metric combo tools tend to be not very good most of the time.

neither items are on the website for that store, didn't look at the item number after I saw the spline end.

If i'm seeing this right.. looks like Goldblatt is replacing Kobalt for the tile stuff and Pacesetter is replacing Blue Hawk?

They use the same picture for Pacesetter replacements of Blue Hawk.

Is this Goldblatt brand decent, or just more junk?

Why would they replace kobalt for a better brand, everything gets cheaper. I looked at the goldblatt stuff it seems ok I guess. As often as I do that work I'd be ok, I wouldn't get it if that was my job.

Not sure about nowadays, but Goldblatt used to be a pro's brand. I'm sure they make the less-expensive, DIY line for the big box stores. And if this stuff is like most other tool brands, several different brands, are all made in the same plant.

I'm going to post this up here and in the Classifieds but if anyone has an extreme access ratchet they picked up when the stuff was cheap, and would be willing to drop it in an envelope and send it to me at cost or close to it please send me a PM. I'm looking for all 3 sizes.

Plenty of these still around here @ zip 75074:

"The 49 piece is the only one you need, and also if you can still find it, there's a few individual pieces that you can add to that set, such as these:

bit adaptors:

I don't believe those come in the set. Also, make sure you grab a couple extra extensions." FROM: Spn1025

Just picked up a 31 piece xtreme access set tonight along with a bunch of extra pieces at mostly less than $1 a piece. We shall see how they hold up.

How do the combo SAE/Metric sockets compare to standard 6 point sockets?

Not a big fan of spline wrenches or sockets but they will work in a pinch. If you can find the clearanced 1/4 or 3/8 or 1/2 Xtreme access 72 tooth ratchet or a clearanced 49 pc set make sure to pick up the socket adapters so you can use that 72 tooth ratchet with regular 6 pt sockets

What's taking these Kobalt brad and pin nailers so long to drop in price? They've been on closeout since the nailer reset and are still $50.39.

I don't need the brad nailer, but I do need a pin nailer. For that price though, I'd just assume pay a bit more for a better brand.

Im mostly convinced anything that isnt Senco, Bostitch or Paslode is the same exact gun with just different colors and branding.

Id like a pin nailer too, but for something I would use so little I would just as soon buy a Harbor Freight version....it might be exactly the same as the Kobalt!

I have the HF pin nailer its a great nailer, used it a bunch of times. I've had it for 3 years now no problems, think I got it for 20 bucks with a coupon. No need to spend twice as much for a Kobalt.

I also have a Bostitch 18 ga brad nailer which I paid 80 bucks for, another Bostitch 15 ga angled smart point that I paid 50, and one Senco 15 ga da nailer display that I paid 25 for. I love brand name tools but a cheap HF knock offs work too.

I really want the Smart Point nailers, but I didnt bite on the 18ga that I found in overhead at our local HD....when I went back to get it (after price had dropped) someone had bought them

I have the older magnesium Bostitch 15GA finish nailer, and a Senco 3 gun set I got on clearance forever ago. They are all my goto nailers but I do have a few no-name things I got cheap that are kinda just taking up space. In the midst of cleaning/rearranging my shop area so they might get donated/given away/tossed.

How do the combo SAE/Metric sockets compare to standard 6 point sockets?

I used the set to put my door back together on my suv last night and just removed some random screws and tightened them back down. So only using 3 different sockets, I'd say they should be fine for what I got them for (keeping them in the car for light duty use).

Would I put one of these SAE/Metric sockets on something I plan to be putting a lot of pressure on? Prob not, unless I really really needed to.

I do like the idea behind them though, so for $24 for a truck box I figured why not. And I didn't have a set so I mean I *had* to buy a set right?

went in today to check the mark downs. found a batch of grout floats that were still on clearance for cheap, but that was about it. tim(the store manager) i was told bought everything as soon as it got marked down. the lady that checked me out doesnt even know why he bought all the tools because he doesnt know how to do tile. kinda crappy a store manager is allowed to buy clearance items in bulk. its on the shelf, fair for the taking i guess.

on another note, the tool dept associate was on the ratchet asile and i asked her if she was marking any of the clearance lower. she said no. i asked her what was going to replace all the kobalt and blue hawk items and she said stanley...... uh.

Check your local craigslist, or check EBay for Kobalt and sort it by distance > closest first. I bet you'll find them. Offer to buy one, then you have his address. Halloween egging!
