Saw a Craftsman box at my local Lowes today. Tinny piece of ****. Looked identical to the cheap Kobalt one sitting beside it other than the fact it was red and $150 more than the regular price on the Kobalt and almost $200 more than the clearance price on the Kobalt. Way better boxes available for the price they are asking.

Totally agree. when i touched it felt so flimsy, nothing lined up. The only good thing was the soft close drawers.

Confirmed: craftsman boxes are EXACTLY what they were when i bought my combo 5 drawer set for black friday at $79 back in 2009... they got the milwaukee clone boxes too ... and the dewalt/rigid rolling tool cases that are customizable... all kobalt cases( even truck ones) are on sale

I went to the state SkillsUSA competition recently and talked to the Craftsman rep, whos display was next to SnapOn. I mentioned the Black&Decker/Stanly buyout, and the Craftsman rep was quick to point out that they were the Sears Craftsman, not the B&D/S Craftsman.

They are selling the Sears Craftsman tool sets at a discount to students.

I can't imagine the warranty nightmares years from now when folks realize there are multiple versions of Craftsman tools, and stores won't replace tools bought elsewhere. Even keeping receipts might not make a difference.

What’s the worry?

SBD has said they’ll honor Sears Craftsman warranty.

I was just on the Lowe’s site and noticed “new price” drops for most of their Craftsman stuff. Maybe it wasn’t moving or they feel like they’ve already collected the earlier adopter’s premium.

As examples, the 81 piece gunmetal is $69 down from $99. The 51 piece gunmetal is $49 down from $69.

Most likely a pre fathers day price drop to get the early shoppers.

Just saw an ad on Facebook that Craftsman is now available at Lowe's, Ace's and Rona's in Canada. Too bad I don't have one of those within 3 hours drive :( The way I see it the whole of Eastern Canada is shut out.

I've noticed this is standard operating procedure at Lowes. They bring in a new product, price it at whatever, them a few weeks later drop the price and call it a "New Lower Price". I see it a lot at Lowes, especially on the popular gift items they bring in for holidays. I guess they do it make "New Lower Price" a legally true statement so it seems like the price they wanted to price something at is a deal and if somebody wantsto pay them morefor it before that, hey they will take the money. It appears they just did this with almost all the Craftsman products they carry.
