Has anybody seen how Lowes stores the individual Craftsman tools? Are these drawered cabinets available to the public? I should of taken a picture but figured I’d ask here first.
Confused by your question, but yes, you can walk into any Lowes that sells individual tools and buy those tools. Typically the drawers/cabinets hold loose individually packaged and priced sockets and wrenches. The drawers/cabinets are not locked or anything if that's what you're asking.
I have done a lot of research about these drawns. The company that makes the drawns is Platt & LaBoni (https://plattlabonia.com/). And you all are correct, the drawns are $600 because it is a full display and they made a limited run for Lowes. The new Craftsman display once again was a limited run for Lowes and they, Platt & LaBoni told me that if they had any scratched or dented that they didn't use they would call me back to see if I wanted them. Still waiting on them after a year. So I contacted Lowes to see what they did with them when they retrofit a store and the store manager stated they go back Lowes Corp. Lowes corp. just gave me the run around. I heard from store employees they just throw them in the trash, but the store management told me it goes back to Lowes Corp. You would think if Lowes could make $300 dollars per set they would be selling them in the tool box section because I know a number of people that have asked that same question. Common sense is not common! Good luck, if someone find them some how, I am still interested in getting one or two sets.Has anybody seen how Lowes stores the individual Craftsman tools? They are not old Kobalt drawers but look the same. I know because I was running the tool department at a Lowes when the reset happened. One of the other managers has a few of the old Kobalts in his garage from the reset (at the time my garage was too small and already built out so I passed).
I know this is a very old thread, but I just bought four of these cabinets from the Lowes that I work at for $10 each. They were going to throw them out, and anything that doesn't get tossed, has to be sold.....so I got them cheap. Some of the slides were messed up, but I was able to make 3 good working cabinets out of the 4 boxes. I'm calling Platt & Laboni next week to order 10 new pulls, (if they'll sell them to me). I think i'm putting them under my workbench for storage.I have done a lot of research about these drawns. The company that makes the drawns is Platt & LaBoni (https://plattlabonia.com/). Update: I was able to move around enough drawer slides to make 3 cabinets that function properly, (customers tear these things up, and Lowes overloads them). I called Platt & Laboni, and they sold me 6 sets of drawer slides for $30 a set. Cost $220 with shipping. I should have them early next week. I bet I got 500 tray dividers.I know this is a very old thread, but I just bought four of these cabinets from the Lowes that I work at for $10 each.
