Lowe's deal on DeWalt

So today I scored a killer deal on some DeWalt at Lowe's. The promo is, buy a 4Ah XR battery and charger kit for $199 and choose a free tool from a list of a dozen or so choices; or a kit of two 5Ah batteries and charger for $299 and pick two free tools from that list. I took the $299 deal and came home with a jigsaw and a router:



My wife works at Lowe's, and this week is employee appreciation week, so the normal 10% employee discount is doubled. I paid $256.53 out the door and I feel like I stole them.

I had an uh-oh moment with the battery kit when I noticed it had been previously opened. I examined the batteries very carefully to be sure they hadn't been swapped for fakes. I went so far as to open one up for internal examination. Fortunately they appear to be genuine new DeWalt.

Sadly, I open my DeWalt boxes at the check out counter now as well. There are far too many stories of people swapping fakes. DeWalt really needs a security seal on the boxes.

They had this same deal last year, and all of the tools were locked up and had strapping bands on them, so you could be assured that the tool hadn't been tampered with. If you removed the band, you couldn't return it, unless it was defective.
