Yeah, it's the 12V. Having used some of Hitachi's drills, they're really nice if you can get over the looks. It won't hang with Milwaukee (which is larger but more powerful, including the brushed model) but it will hang with Bosch, Dewalt and Makita of the same years.
The problem is definitely going to be support and a small product line and uncertain future. For that reason, I'd stay away unless you're ONLY looking for the drill, impact and light...maybe a homeowner's tool set but even then, the cost of B&D or Ryobi and the amount of tools to build upon that (18/20v) platform really makes it tough to consider. For $60 it makes a lot of sense but really you probably should consider it a disposable set, batteries die and trash it. Sad because they really are nice tools.
