Has anyone filled out the form? I have this table saw but what to know what happens...do I get a check or something? Or a replacement motor?

The recall notice at the end of liamtoh1's link states a refund is given.

I don't get it. It doesn't say anything about replacing the motor, send the motor in to get the refund (like Craftsman RAS's). What's the point? Pay a few bux (well, quite a few) and just leave the bad motors out there to wreak havoc??

I'm not familiar with this saw - is it belt drive so the motor is replaceable, or direct drive so it's not? I went round and round with the manufacturer over a direct drive saw that just needed a new gear set - easy to replace. Not no way, not no how. Had to scrap it.

Not many instances of fire reported yet, but it only takes one in YOUR shop to ruin YOUR day.

Going through the motions on the site you take a picture of the serial plate, upload it, tip the saw and chop the power cord in a few places, take a picture and upload it, and you get a check for $75-$125 depending on serial range (newer = more compensation). You don't have to mail anything in. You could repair the cord after and keep using it but it absolves them of liability.

Looks like the failure is caused by the mount screws rattling out causing the gears to bind. If it were me i'd chop the cord, get my check, replace the cord, and Loctite those suckers in and keep using it. Super cheap table saw though, and license manufactured to boot. In the garbage is no great loss.

Someone crunched the numbers and it was cheaper for them to have owners disable the saw for a partial refund than it was to manufacture new components and then deal with all the hassle of DIY repair. Remember this is a $150 table saw with stand, not some $2500 cabinet saw.
