Hey everyone I was at lowes today and I don't need a box but I had a look at them......wow not very great quality, bottom of the drawers was very flexible only 99lbs slides on the stainless and 50lbs on the black ones man thats not very good! the stainless had some rust on the welds and loose rivets and the one drawer was already broken! I figured for that stainless steel one for$1949 it would be a bit better quality than that. anyways just ranting :lol_hitti

I have one of the smaller black kobalt boxes with the power strip in the side. The quality on mine seems pretty damn good and drawers feel "good", and I have loaded mine down before I went and bought a bigger box.

But for that price for the big one, I'd rather have a used tool truck box

Every time I go to Lowes their tool boxes are all busted up. The drawers won't close and the slides are all bent. If they can't survive being on display in a store, how are they gonna survive being in someone's garage?

I have the big stainless with the radio and it's a great home box but definately not a pro environment box. I sold my Mac box when I sold my shop and kept all my tools and bought this box for the house. I have it pretty overloaded and it works fine. I got a great discount on it because I know a manager at lowes. I paid 1300 plus tax and got 18 months no interst on my lowes card. Sold my 10 year old Mac tech1000 for 2k and took the kids to Disney.

yeah I agree with you guys it's ok for home use but it wouldn't last in a shop environment. some of the drawers on my box weight so much it would kill that thing if I had that weight in it . But at first glance they are decent looking, I do like the radio!

First of all, I gotta say I'm not a Harbor Freight guy by any means but in retrospect, I'd rather have one of those US General boxes than the Kobalt. I have the Kobalt stainless top and bottom 41". I've had no problem with it and there's some pretty good weight in there but the HF ones are much sturdier in my opinion. And I think they slide better.

But, I'm not so unhappy I'll switch out the Kobalt. Until I can get a Snap-on that is.
