Wife went to Lowe's tonight and found this Kobalt Tool Chest combo.

Item number: 1291859

What are everyone's thoughts for a weekend warrior?

I'll post a link / picture once my post count gets where it needs to be. Plan to be more active as we close on a new house and two car garage next month.

In before the 'if you wait long enough you can find a older, much smaller Snap-On box for the same price' crowd.
It will be fine. If, at some point, it proves not worthy of your tools then it will serve with distinction holding all of your overflow and miscellaneous stuff.

Got to love their loyalty, but obviously I don't need the 44" because my 26" has room to spare. And looks like it will be a good father's day for me.

Saw that the other day myself....loved the idea of Kwikset’s Smartkey for the lock....keeps me from trying to keep up with another set of keys...

Lowe's seems to be pushing out the Kobalt brand, with Craftsman taking it's place, look for markdowns soon......

I was wondering about that myself. Been a lot of new large CM displays at Lowes lately. I was wondering how they can have two lines. I also wonder if this is a big mistake on their part. CM has been going downhill over the last 15 yrs or so. I see their new battery tools are a completely different setup than the old 19.2V so figure it's a new line w/ no history. Going to be a decade before they either have a following or not. AT this moment I'd rather buy a Kobalt than a CM.

Took a look at one today. The shallow drawers are quite shallow. The HF 44s are better constructed, that's for sure, but that's not to say the Kobalt won't hold up in a home garage because I think it will. I liked the layout of the top box with the charging station.

I don't know how the quality of it is but looks like a decent box for the money. If you're a Vet, you should get an additional 10% off the price which would make it an even sweeter deal.
