I'm a bit of a Lowes fanatic in terms of their clearance deals, and there seem to be a lot of them right now. Here's a list of the top Lowes tools deals, sorted by highest savings amount. I'll set this to update twice per day for now, it's automated.

Due to post length constraints with the URLs for each product, this will take up several posts so I didn't want to clutter the Hot Deals thread with it... feel free to discuss and if people don't like the thread it will get buried or deleted.

A couple notes:

  • Please note some of the original prices are up to 99 cents low - I had a mistake when I first generated some of these which caused dollars to be rounded off low, so if it says $19.00 it may really be $19.99, but no more.
  • Lowes prices vary based on location. These are all based off the Buchanan store in 54915. I've noticed most sales reach other stores online within a day or two, though not all may. Perhaps someone who works at Lowes can give us an idea of how that works? Lowes does seem to do well price matching other Lowes stores based off print-offs, receipts, etc.
  • There are a couple brands color-coded for easy visibility. Let me know if you have others.
  • Right now, the list primarily is composed of tools and related sales. I'll be expanding the product line to include other areas as well, like the $2.97 softener salt that's running right now.

Hope this helps some of you save money... the damn sales only end up costing me :)

Wow, great work here. I had to go and order the tape measure and 3 of the 14 piece plier sets. Thanks!

Just picked up the Stanley 16' tape measure. It was indeed a fatmax and included the utility knife. What a deal!

No problem guys... I did it for all of us :) I don't want to take away from the "hot deal" thread, but any suggestions?

I don't want to make things incomplete, but I'm actually wondering if people would mind if I took the Task Force stuff out? Seems there's a lot of it and the "was" prices are very high.

I don't mind taking out the Task Force stuff since it's stuff I would never even consider. I gloss over those names either way.

BTW, thanks on the FatMax deal, I picked up a few for "atta boy" gifts!

if this is automated, can ya do the same thing for HomeDepot??

Sure, I could mix that in. I have to write and maintain it for each site, just never really thought of Home Depot since the nearest one is 30 minutes away :)

NP... I just opened one of mine. Both seem okay, awesome for the money. I still prefer my other knives, and I have a bunch, and the Komelon self-locking tapes. But the FatMax is nice, and 11' of extension is certainly impressive! :)

The newer Task Force stuff actually looks pretty decent, it looks similar to the Husky... made in China and the chrome seems good. Probably a good homeowner set for the price, but like you I don't have much interest.

A few years ago there was a discussion here about a previous series of Kobalt line wrenches that were very similar in spec. to Snap-On. No one had any hard or fast specs. to compare, as I recall, but I remember by Snap On driver talking about the ruckus it caused at the time when Lowes had these. Not only were they similar (and cheaper) than the SO, but Lowes had those promotional materials printed up that pissed off some people when they used the SO name. These were (IIRC) limited to chrome Kobalt line wrenches.

Anyone know if later generation Kobalts (incl. the satin finishes) were close in spec to the originals -- or did they differ greatly? I think the Kobalt / SO thing was maybe 2003-04 or so. Maybe I off on the years. I'll try to find the older threads that discussed this.

The original Kobalt were made by JH Williams, Snap On's industrial brand. That was before I ever owned one, so I can't attest to the quality, but I'm sure it was fairly good. Even though they were owned by JH Williams, I think the tools are distinctly different than Snap On, or everyone would be buying JH Williams instead of Snap On to begin with, forget Kobalt. :)

The next set were made by Danaher in the USA, and IMO left a lot to be desired. I think the new Kobalt sets made in Taiwan are better than the Danaher-USA stuff, is it as high-end as the JH Williams was probably not, but I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Thanks for posting these.

I picked up the $5.98 1/4" drive metric set a couple of weeks ago, and was very happy with the painless store pick-up option.

I was also interested in a couple of the 14-piece mini pliers sets. However, when in a different city over the holiday, the Lowe's there had them for $19.98. I figured I would just order online at home and do the store pick-up thing again. However, when I tried to do that today, it said that they were unavailable in any stores nearby, and I was unable to select the option to have them shipped to my home. I got frustrated enough to call the customer service number, where I was told that these were no longer available for order at $9.98. So I guess the "$9.98 until 12/31/11" isn't accurate? Am I missing something about ordering from Lowes.com?

There have NOT been many changes to the sale items for December, FYI. Nothing at all of interest.

Lowes has been shady during Black Friday and these sales in terms of inventory availability. The website shows them at $9.98, but no inventory. I was in the store yesterday and they were there at $19.98, just like you saw. They did the same thing with Black Friday inventory - it's in the store, but the site says it's not. The Kobalt Locking Plier set is different - it's $9.98 but no inventory shown, yet I see above where they'd be Lowes has them hidden away but refuses saying those are not part of the sale.

I've also seen a couple things that showed 12/30 or 12/31, which are no longer at the sale prices.

The Crossform wrenches are on sale for $14.98 through 12/31 when you view the detail page, $24.98 regular price in the search results of the website, and $79.98 in the closest Lowes to me.

You are the man! I just got back from Lowes and bought a set of SAE and Metric crossform wrenchs. They did NOT want to sell them to me at $14.98 but they finally did. It kept ringing up $79.99 and they kept telling me no. I brought out my phone and showed them. Then they agreed.

THANK YOU for posting these sales and I hope you keep it up.

No problem... ***** there is nothing new though.

In the future, if you see the price online I would definitely purchase them online for store pickup, then there is no price hassle/etc., and you don't have to find them :)

Went and picked up the 8-piece SAE and the 8-piece Metric Crossforce sets as well as the 14-piece mini pliers set.

The store manager ended up helping search for the Crossforce sets and told me "If we can't find them, I'll sell you the ratcheting Power Cross set for the same price."

I printed the web page for each set of the wrench sets and the pliers set and told him I would've bought them online, but at such a markdown I wanted to see if they were in the store.

Paid $9.98. If I remember correctly they were marked $14.98...reduced from $19.98.

The lowes at S. Clarksville had them marked down from 39.98 to 19.98... Showed the lady at the register the online price and she matched it no questions asked...

They may be made in China, but for $10 it's a damn good set.

While I was there, I overheard one of the guys playing with the crossforce demo wrench and bolt that they have on display. He couldn't figure out why the wrench wouldn't fit over the bolt.

He then figured it out... he said the following:

"No wonder this **** doesn't work. The bolt is 1/2" and the wrench is 13mm"

I just kinda shook my head and proceeded to the checkout!

Our store has them higher as well, and they DO have them in stock. It really pisses me off they've removed these items from online inventory with the lower price but continue to stock them in store.

They further marked down a number of socket and wrench sets:

Up to 70% off on Kobalt Tools Set. Free in store pickup

Kobalt 10-Piece SAE 1/4-inch Drive 6-Point Socket Set for $5.98

Kobalt 10-Piece Metric 1/4-inch Drive 6-Point Socket Set for $5.98

Kobalt 6-Piece SAE Combination Wrench Set for $9.98

Kobalt 6-Piece Metric Combination Wrench Set for $9.98

Kobalt 7-Piece MM Multifit Combination Wrench Set for $9.98

Kobalt 7-Piece SAE Multifit Combination Wrench Set for $9.98

They are online, and I think in the stores as well at this price. I picked up a couple sets of each of the multifit wrenchs - they are made in China unfortunately not USA made.

Those prices are all from a couple weeks ago... :)

Are the multi fit wrenches China and not Taiwan? That would explain the quality difference between them and the polished sets.

ishiboo,
I'd consider printing out the internet ad and driving up to the Oshkosh store, but this whole runaround has me so annoyed I don't want to go anywhere near Lowe's.

What are you looking to buy?

I think the Wauwatosa store would be closer to West Bend, BTW.

I am starting to get frustrated with Lowes as well.

I wanted two sets of the 14-piece pliers. Yes, the Wauwatosa store would be closer and I might have already gone if I knew for sure they had the pliers in stock.

Maybe I'll call the store tomorrow and make the drive if they have them in stock...
