Lowe's Motor Speedway: Garage Floor Pics

With the race coverage switching to Lowe's Motor Speedway these 2 weeks, I've seen a lot of footage in the garage area. The first thing I noticed was how nice (and bright) the floor was.

Below are 2 pics of the Lowe's garage area that I found online. What type of coating do you think they've used:

- Stain?

- Epoxy?

- Polyurethane?

- other?

These photos really do not do the floor justice. It looks even brighter during the TV coverage that I've seen. Do you think they resurface the garage floor often? Annually maybe?

I'd really like to know exactly what they used. It is very bright and obviously can take some abuse!

Any input is much appreciated!

I don't have enough experience to tell the difference but if you look at the jack stands, it looks like there is a base to them which would help distribute the weight over a larger area than the 4 point of the legs of the stands. I was planning on doing something similar to this to help save wear and tear on my epoxy floor with a piece of wood.

Professional floor Epoxy would be my guess. Call your local Nascar track and see what they use in their pit buildings?

At one time, a company called Precision Epoxy did floors for many of the nascar teams and tracks. Not sure if they are still doing them or not.

Remember, too, that Nascar has some $$$ so the floor you're looking at may have been coated last month.

The only true way to tell would be to call the track as someone has stated before.

I think what you are seeing is the tie bar between the legs, to prevent them from spreading under load. Between the unusually wide legs and those ties, it looks like a plate.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I'll eventually call Lowe's Motor Speedway and see if I can get some additional info (fingers crossed). If I learn anything new, I'll let everyone know.

When you call be sure to ask how often they recoat it. I'm curious as to how long it lasts with those blazing hot tires on it. I definitely dig that bright blue color though.

That's what makes me wonder if it isn't a dye or something. Those tires are hot and sticky. You would think they would destroy epoxy. If they re-coated after every race, the stuff would be a foot think in a couple of years.

THe jack stands have bottom plates welded to them. We have to do this so that when we use them on asphalt the legs won't sink in.

Track owners get pissed when the asphalt gets torn up, it not so bad on concrete though.

FYI

My neighbor did that to his driveway last summer. I should have thought of that. I stand corrected.
