Went to my local Lowes today and came home with 6 of their $38.96 T8 low profile Large reflector shop lights for $17.53 each. They were 1/2 price and applied a 10% discount as well. Utilitech #0245550 Cold temp 0 degree ballast. They are marked as clearance price.

As I needed more, when I got home I called some other Lowes and found that all stores had them discounted at different prices. Some as low as $9.74 which is a 75% discount. I paid for them over the phone and will make a round trip tomorrow to pick them up. One store had them at $21.** and price matched the $9.74 price from the store where I had just purchased their final 8. Never asked about the price match plus 10%. I'm thrifty, but didn't figure that would fly.

Check out your Lowes if you need some.

I went to the lowes nearest to me and they did indeed have them for the $9.97 price but they were all sold out. I talked to the manager and he said they have 12 at the other store in town and they would price match them to their price. Well I went over there and the price on them was $28.98 so I talked to the guy in lighting and he called the woman manager that was on duty tonight and she flat out refused to price match them. When she walked away the dude working in the lighting section said that he had seen the manager price match stuff all the time and to come back tomorrow to talk to the manager to see if wouldn't price match them for me. Thanks for the heads up on this. If I can get 6 or so new light fixtures for $10 each that is going to be awesome. I just wish they came with bulbs installed but for $10 you can't complain.

So what is so great about these fixtures that everyone wants to run out and buy them? Walmart carries T8 fixtures that look identical. They normally cost about $12 each. I used them all over my garage and they seem to work just fine.

The walmart lights don't have zero degree ballasts and are not nearly the quality of these. The two lights are really not comparable. I went today and was able to get 6 of these for $9.74 each. I really like the quality and the fact that they have pull string switches on them.

Went to the Prescott store today, they were $9.74, but all gone.:( Would have pick up 4-6 if they had had them!

I cant get any of those numbers to work on Lowes site to check my local. Anything i'm doing wrong?

They do not show up when I check Lowes.com. In store only apparently. Just got home with 30 of these at $9.74 each. Two stores price matched and two were already discounted the 75%. Have your local store check other Lowes locations for availability. that's what I did and called and bought them over the phone yesterday and picked up today. Hope this helps.

Don't know of any reason why that wouldn't work. They do state in the directions however that they CAN NOT be surface mounted, so would still need to be hung or find a way to maintain a space between the fixture and your finished ceiling.

I don't know if I agree with that. I fired up my lights at 12 degrees during our cold snap. Came right on. Not zero but close enough.

I've got these in my garage, I pulled them apart and hard mounted them to the ceiling. I have 9 of them in my two car garage. They are my temporary fix until I redo the entire garage.

Went to the valley (Phoenix) yesterday so I stopped in @ Happy Valley Rd Lowe's. Fixtures were tagged @ $9.55, stock was 0. Had them check other area stores and located 5 (showed 6, but 1 was display), had them call and hold them for me.

Got over to the Cave Creek store and they were on a cart waiting, but the tag on the shelf was $24.85! WTH! Talked to the (3) employees, getting no where with the price difference. OK, who do I need to talk to.

CS counter lady said she had to call the HV store and confirm the price.

Came home with five fixtures, @$9.55 each! Thanks for the heads up, been looking for something like these for a while and they will fit the bill.

Now, I need to get a box of tubes. What is a good light temp. Does 4100 make a good garage light?

What is the item number of these lights? I don't think Lowes can pull these up by sku's. I may try to call them tomorrow to see if anyone nearby has them in stock. I just wish these were not hard wired.

There are still 6 at my store, but the price is still at 34.00. Do you think they just have not got the memo yet, or they cleared out what they were going to???

Employees told me that different stores get notices ("memos") at different times.

Didn't make sense to me, specially since they were in the same "district"!:headscrat

Picked up 6 of these at the lowes near my hotel (lots of time spent on the road), one was DOA so its going back this week. The four I hung up are awesome, and to think I was going to spend double per fixture from HD... Thanks for the heads up in this thread, would've never seen them as I dont have a lowes close to home.

Was just at the local store to buy two shop lights, no sale or closeout notices. The little black T8 shop units are about $10 but that is regular price.

Just checked on this SKU in Lexington, KY. They are at full price, zero in stock, six on order. Looks like the thrill is gone.

I just called one of my local stores. The store I called does not have any, but another store in town has 5 of them. However, the price showing is $37.02. Any idea on how to get price matches with out of state stores? lol

I don't know if this will help but here is a scanned PDF of my receipt from when I bought them.

See my post (#21), above, same thing, CS called, verified the other store's price, then matched it!

good luck,
