Nope. Whatever gets the job done at a reasonable cost. Being a hobbyist and homeowner means picking and choosing tools.

I have been impressed with my little Ridgid 12v li-ion drill and impact driver. They are no M12 Fuel, but for my intermittent and generally light needs they are more than enough.

Gotta concur with this, I’d love to buy the best hell i don’t think any guy in this forum would turn down a full size tool box stocked to the gills with snap on tools, but as a diy mechanic and home owner i look for good quality at a good price, i haven’t broken to many tools in my time and I’m not easy on them either so I’d say I’m doing just fine with the brands i choose.

Recently i really started to expand my socket and ratchet collection because for years I’ve been surviving with a craftsman starter set that i got back in 02 and some odds and ends. When i first started to look for tools to add to what i already had i thought I’ll try to find more craftsman stuff because i truly like my set and the sockets are rock solid and i have yet to break any and there holding up great. Well as soon as i started to search out USA craftsman’s (i won’t buy the new offerings you can get quality Taiwan tools these days everywhere for lower cost and better build) what i found out quickly was that old USA craftsman is damn expensive now. Long story short i started to buy quality Taiwan socket sets like gearwrench, oemtools and a couple others and i have no complaints. I always hold out for sales and so far I’d say my money has taken me pretty far at building up my collection.

I've got to say Craftsman simply because Sears gave me my first ever credit card in the late 1970's. They were 1/2 the size of today's CC's...anybody remember that?
Anyway, thanks to Sears putting their trust in me at such an early age, I assembled quite the collection of Craftsman products. I've have VERY few ever fail me throughout the years, but I'm pretty fanatical on how I keep/use my tools.

The way I feel towards Wright Tool is how I think a lot here feel towards Craftsman. I grew up watching my dad, a diesel mechanic, use them. He always used to say they were good tools and much cheaper than Snap-on and Mac, were made right down the road from us in Barberton. I still have an affinity for them. Just impulse purchased a 3425 long contour grip 3/8 ratchet of theirs yesterday, and man is it slick.

I have a friend who buys his tools from one brand because he wants all his tools to be the same color, or if just metal tools, those have to all look the same. ]

I used to work for a Irishman. When it came to power tools he'd only buy hitachi but would swear to he's last breath it was the best damn tools ever made....fact was they were green. Everything thing that guy owned was green, tools, trucks, toys you name it they were green. I swear if he could have married a Martian he would have.

Myself I believe in integration, ain't no damn brand loyalty going on in my collection. Hell I even bus my truck tools to the shop from time to time just so they don't feel excluded.

I have used estate sales to upgrade my tools in ways that I could never justify at retail prices. But in no way did I just buy one brand. I started out with majority Craftsman (chrome) and Harbor Freight (impact). I have upgraded to a vast vast majority of truck tool sockets. I keep a list on my phone of the gaps in my sets. I keep a running tally in my head of the other categories of tools. I have whole drawers that I have removed anything not made in USA.

Glad to know that I'm not the only one.

I'm loyal to my bank account. No, that doesn't mean I buy cheap HF stuff (I do like their ratchets), but I like bang for my buck. Gearwrench and USA Craftsman make up about 90% of my box. The rest are used tools I stumbled across one way or another (MAC, Blackhawk, SK, a few pieces of Snap-On)

I do splurge a little bit when it comes to electric tools. All my stuff is Milwaukee. The last couple Dewalt grinders I have will be replaced with them too. The Dewalts are hot, noisy, and vibrate my hands numb.

You betcha der eh.

And... you can take any given time off estate sales, and jump right back into it because you have your list.

You got dat right dontchyaknow! Especially with the 8 months of no garage/estate sales due to winter up here, though with the current snow depth being over 5 feet it may be longer this year

I have a large number of Kobalt tools because my dad bought me my first set of sockets when I got a car (so I'd stop borrowing his), though I didn't grow up in a mechanically-oriented household. My initial judgement was that they probably would need replaced within a year or two, boy was I wrong.

Over a decade later, they're still my go-to, and they've been integral to a lot of the jobs I've done on my vehicles. Because of that, I've got all kinds of blue goodies in the garage, just from being so impressed with that first set.

In a similar vein, I had to go to Home Depot to get a bolt to fix my car, and a sales lady would not leave us alone about cabinets. I'm sure you guys know the type. Absolutely wouldn't take no for an answer, wouldn't leave us to try to find what we needed, kept trying to show pictures, after being told 'no' several times. After that experience, I avoid going into Home Depot at all cost, and it's what drove me to the DeWalt 20v tools, Milwaukee wasn't even an option on the table because it would mean having to go into Home Depot.
