Hello, I am installing an LP cook stove in our basement and need advice on the gas supply line. The stove will be used for canning so not for every day use.
I have a 250 propane tank about 30 feet from the building and will need to run something to the building through a hole in the foundation and go about 15 feet to the stove.
This tank will supply one standard cook stove and a generac generator. The generator supply will be separated at the tank so not involved with the stove line.
What would you install. There is a regulator on the tank do I need one at the house. There are more questions but I will start with this and work through the rest. Thank you, Jim.
I will get pictures and post them.

A couple thoughts. How far is the generator from where the line goes into the house for the stove ?
This is how you need to do it. A red regulator on the tank (high pressure) run 1/2 inch coated copper to the house. At the house tee it off. One side going to the generator and the other to the stove. The side going into the stove goes thru the plate not the foundation. 2 regulators at the house. Low pressure. One for the stove the other for the generator. Those are called 2d stage. If the generator is in the other direction just put the tee at the tank.
I do this every day. That is how it’s done. Mike

The stove is too far from the tank to go low pressure that far. Also with a regulator on the house you have options if you had more appliances inside

The tank will be 30 ft from the house and the generator will be 25 ft from the house in line with the tank. I thought it would be easier to tee at the tank and run separate lines to each. The generator has a regulator on it but I'm assuming that I need a hp regulator (red) at the tank, tee from there and run 1/2" copper to the regular on generator, then one from the tee at tank to the house and mount a low pressure regulator at the house.
Is that correct?
The next part is where it goes into the house. What material should be used inside, it's about 15 to 18 feet inside.
Thank you for your help.

Adk Mike gave you the info you need. My house is on LP, and the LP supplier came and told me I needed new regulators. The tank has one, and the house has one. He changed them both (house built in '79). At the same time, I had installed a Big Maxx in the shop. He installed only one reg there, telling my it would replace the need of two. It was probably less trouble at the house to just replace both instead of going to one?

Go straight to the Generator. 1/2 copper coated is fine. Regulator at the generator. Then same line on to the house. Regulator at the house through the plate. Once inside the house the pressure behind that regulator is 1/2 a pound.
If local codes allow. The same 1/2 copper will run a stove fine. Again in the future you have options if you ever run more appliances in the house.
My house I have black iron inside. That can be done later if more stuff is added. Mike

With a regulator both on the generator and one on the house in a way have to gas systems on one high pressure line. When the generator is running any appliances in the house will not starve for gas

Harley Jim, is the tank leased or do you own ?

Most propane suppliers contracts state something like:
If it’s leased your not suppose to touch the tank, lines or regulators..........

Thanks Mike, I was hoping copper was ok, I'm too old and artificial knees dont like to kneel long enough to do black pipe. I like the three regulator set up that is the way I will do it.

I own the tank. I talked to the supplier and he said they could fill it. That is probably where I'll buy the regulators.
