Does anybody know how long those f-body LT1 shortened spark plug sockets are? I'm still having traumatic flashbacks from the last LT1 ignition job I did about 10 yrs. ago,and I've been seeing these shorty sparkplug sockets at different places. Even a numbskull like me can see that it's just a standard plug socket that had some of the length hacked off of it.

I can't answer your question, but having just done a full tune-up on my '95 Formula in the spring, I can tell you that you don't really need it. The plugs are less of a pain than the wires. I found that with a flex-head 3/8 ratchet and and a couple different extensions I was able to get most of them ok. I did have to lay on top of the engine to get one or two on the PS though.

I changed my plugs on my 95 LT1 and didn't use anything but a swivel spark plug socket, but I did order one of these for next time, might help some on with the alternator and ac being the biggest pain on the right side. Also I used a long handled snap on flex ratchet as well. I did put new MSD wires on it, and that was a pain but easier from underneath the car. The biggest pain was changing the optispark.

I always understood that it was easier to drop the motor to change plugs on those LT1 F-bodies. A fella I used to run with in the B-body club in Chicago could swap plugs in that manner is just over 3 hours.

I did all of them in under an hour. Using the the stuff I listed above, it wasn't that bad at all. Also I have small hands which helped.

For me, personally, that seems excessive. The plugs themselves were not that bad, although there is some contorting/gymnastics necessary. I had the front of the car up high on stands, which helps a ton to be able to work from top or bottom.

Wires and Opti **** way worse than the plugs.
