The boy did sustain an injury.

The boy's uncle said that he was visiting from Louisiana and playing with his cousin at the time.

Officers responded to Lawn Street in Duluth around 12:20 p.m. Wednesday on a call that a child fell through a sewer.

Authorities could not locate the 8 year old right away.

I'd say he was lucky, I know they have been getting tons of rain and have lots of flash flood warnings in Duluth. I was just reading where the zoo got flooded and some of the animals drowned and a polor bear escaped and had to be tracked down and tranqulized, a couple of seals swam away but were captured. They had 9" of rain in a short time and caused major damage.

I'm guessing storm drain system well flushed with fresh rainwater, not the sanitary sewer full of poo and nastyness -- most people who fall in sewer lines don't get rescued, they just recover the body downstream.
