Hey Guys,

We've got a small machine shop at work that we're selling off some of the stuff we never use.

Anyone have any idea what this set would be worth?

Its made by lufkin and appears to be pretty old. I've googled it and havent come up with much.

I'll probably list it and some other stuff in the for sale section.

Thanks,

Jake

Hi Jake,

I'm possibly interested in them.

Please send me some more photos, especially of the larger mics.

Above is link to a new set with standards. That set you have, does it have standards ( 11 rods from 2 to 12 inches long)? A couple of things make me wary of that set, You are not familiar with what they are, and if they have been in the hands of non machinists then the concern is if they are still in good shape. This is not a personnel attack but to many good tools have been damaged by those who have not been trained in their proper use. Where I worked, with some highly educated people, we also had a machine shop and some of those guys could mess up a steel ball. I would guess for internet pricing $100 to $200. If sold person to person then the buyer would have to decide.

I know what they are, but I see your point.

We're a wood working shop that farmed out and "machine shop type" repairs we needed done, then the machine shop we were using went out of business so we bought a bunch of stuff that we thought we'd use or could use in the future....

fast forward 2 years, we haven't used any of the stuff we bought (bridgeport, lathe, surface grinder, hydraulic press, misc tools) and I could use the space for manufacturing so its time to dust em off and sell them.

Lufkin was well thought of and they were a good above medium grade US amde brand. As far as I remember they stopped making mic's in the early seventies.

Lufkin quit making their precision tools in 1966 when they were acquired by Pratt & Whitney. I have a real fondness for Lufkin tools and all of the numerous ones I have are equal to or greater in quality of similar vintage Starrett and B & S.

More Lufkin info.

Nice set of mics by the way.
