Same SKU here is $59.18 What in the actual F. . . .

I know the government has been printing more money than toiletpaper, but if this was inflation, then why don't we see this will all of our goods. This seems to be a separate issue.

Our local store here is filled to the gills so it shouldn't be a supply issue.

I bought a few 2x6x8' for a small project about 2 weeks ago at my local lumber yard and he said it sure wasn't coming from them (regarding the high prices). He said demand has not dropped one bit. That's here in Lebanon/Lancaster county in PA.

Once the demand tapers down, I'm sure the prices will drop off as well. Somewhat simple economics, I suppose.

All that said, I could have bought a 4x8x3/4 sheet of common grade plywood at Lowe's for 51.99 or a sheet of finish grade maple ply for 53.99. Go figure......I bought the maple.

HD lumber is great if you need something to get the campfire going.

Around here, it's just the opposite.

HD-Pulaski consistently has better quality lumber than Fayetteville Lumber. FL must have two lumber yards as near as I figure it: One for dumba$$e$ like me and then the real lumber yard for real carpenters and construction folks. There's no way as a professional would I use their **** lumber.

Wilson Lumber in Huntsville is excellent as well as Flanagan Lumber in Athens; both of those are farther away however.

Prices? They'll take your breath away. I got 12 2x6x10s yesterday for $16 each. OUCH!!!

Currently showing as $64.58 on the Eastside of Seattle. Yeah, trees are scarce around here, probably explains why lumber is so expensive...(just paid $3.99/ft for 1x8 cedar fascia boards...)

I'm redoing our deck and was pleased to see that mahogany is still at $2.99/linear foot, exactly where it's been for the past couple of years. The deck is not huge, so the wood will cost about $2K.

Wife wants to do plastic, but was warned by a contractor that it would be too hot to use for a good part of the summer. She's concerned about maintenance...I'm just going to leave it natural and let it weather. It will outlast us either way... :)

wait until Hurricane season hits... My business buys 1/2" cdx and 2x4x8 by the lift. What we used to pay was around $1700-$1900 for both, delivered same day. Now, it's nearly $6,000 and we're told a 10 day wait period. I think Lowes and HD bought up 90% of lumber in anticipation of shortage.

Just priced some plywood and 2x6's at an actual lumber yard yesterday and they was 10 bucks cheaper per sheet on 15/32 plywood sheathing ( LY = 41.88 & HD 51.05 ) and 4 bucks cheaper per board on the 2x6 's than HD. ( 2x6x12 treated @ LY = 15.02 & HD 19.57 )

HD did have them beat though on 4x4x8 by 2.35 per post.

guy at lumber yard said that Friday at 3pm prices will jump up some more. Wasnt sure how much though.

Im off tomorrow so I will get what I need before it goes up anymore.

Maine has many shuttered sawmills and plenty of raw materials so I'll be interested to see if anyone can get some of these mills running again.

ZIP system (required some places in my neck of woods) is out of control IMO

https://www.homedepot.com/s/zip%20sheathing?NCNI-5

Local lumber yard guy said it was related to the big freeze they had down in Texas a while ago. I dunno :dunno:

Advantech T&G flooring over $75 a sheet

https://www.homedepot.com/p/Advante...pip_alternatives-_-204836689-_-202084475-_-N&

PT 2x12 x16 ft almost $75

https://www.homedepot.com/p/2-in-x-...tact-Pressure-Treated-Lumber-106024/206964321

And over $50 for a 2x12x 12'

I was wandering the local HD back on Thursday pricing out materials for one of my projects. Online showed 5/4" PT deck boards were cheaper there than my local lumber yard

The problem is all the common stuff ... back in the fall we were doing the 5/8 drywall w/ no problems. Now with 1/2 shortages going on for a while people are using more 5/8 . Now it's going up I'm told.

In MA traditional materials are appreciated

Even last summer the cost of mahogany for millwork was actually cheaper vs getting straight grained fir. I priced replacement sash for huge gothic windows. My builder just did a wrap porch on a huge victorian and he did all the railings in mahogany ... millwork company said cheaper. The deck is all mahogany .. think it all gets paint
