Hey everyone! So I have been using this forum as an excellent resource for a while now, but have never had much to post about. Now we are finishing construction of our new home and I would like some input from those willing to help.
Background:
At our last home I had multiple buildings for storage, and a 24x36' metal building for a shop. For our new home, I had to compromise with the wife and give up country living for a cul de sac home with an attached 3 car (typical 2+1 bay). My main hobby is working on cars, and the current project is a protouring build on a c3 corvette I've owned since I was 14 (almost 20 years ago).
The plan for review:
I have already installed 220v 30amp service in the main bay (was expecting to go with a Bendpak Grand Prix 2 post lift), but have decided due to space limitations to go with a 4 post lift with a sliding bridge jack instead. This way I can move the lift to the far right for the additional parking/gym space, or move it away from the wall during major car projects. I was looking at the Titan 8klb lift for this. Before anyone says it... I know "China"... But it is affordable, comes with most of the add-ons included (caster kit, pans, etc), helps offset the cost of the $700 bridge jack( a must have for me), and from my research most of the major lift companys' residential lifts are China sourced as well. Otherwise, I would love to hear any experience others may have had or recommendations over the Titan brand.
For flooring, I was planning to go with PVC tiles like Supratiles I have seen posted by the vendor here. I love the look of Racedeck, but I feel like with the work I will be doing, I will quickly have a layer of spilled fluids and fiberglass dust under those type of tiles. I have made multiple searches here, but have not found a ton of info/reviews on the pvc tiles other than the potential to have curling issues, and tire marks/scuffing (I would choose a dark color). This will likely be the first thing I do once we move in the next few weeks, so I would love to get some input/recommendations here.
I will have a home gym setup as well on the left side of the bay using a folding Rogue RML rack. I'm assuming the feet will slide ok on the pvc flooring if go with a flat or textured pattern vs coin/diamond?
The 3rd bay will mainly be used for my wife's car and additional storage as it is isolated from the mess I'll make in the main bay.
Well, thats plenty for now. I've attached pictures of my old "shop", the new garage, and the accurate dimensions and proposed layout I made on sketchup to give you a better idea. I appreciate anyone taking the time to read and respond, and I've enjoyed reading through all of your builds on here.
