The springs shouldn't be awful hard to find, I wouldn't think. If not locally, maybe smallparts.com or MSC.
Can you put the slide in a press with support top & bottom and tweek it back ? They do tend to twist but I've had good luck in
the past with a couple.

Neat old box. I remember quite a few MBC's but never came across that model in automotive shops.

Check surpluscenter.com and Mcmaster Carr for the slides. I found some through Mcmaster that dropped right into an old desk I've been fiddling with.
