M12 Fuel Impact Driver Blinking Battery Light

Just bought an M12 Fuel impact. Playing around with it a bit and having a strange issue at really low speeds... Basically, if I am barely depressing the trigger to the point where the impact is just starting to spin, after a few seconds the battery lights flash and the impact stops working.

This occurs with both included batteries.

I am assuming this is the override to prevent over-heating, but I am barely using the driver. Is this normal or have I purchased a lemon?

Thanks for your help!

At low-speed / stall-speed, there is no back EMF so motor currents are high. The batteries are just protecting themselves from overload. I wouldn't worry about it and use your tool as normal.

The Milwaukee fuel series tools utilize brush less d.c. motors which don't rely on motor slip for regulation, as well as being an impact, don't load the motor the same. I would check the contacts that go to the thermistor in the battery pack. Try changing batteries as well. It seems to be common failure mode for the m12 series.
