M12 ratchet warranty

I'm close to pulling the trigger on a m12 ratchet (most likely the 1/4"). My main goal with the tool is increasing speed with small fasteners in tight spaces - 8mm to a max of 13mm. I am planning on using it professionally, and my only concern is the ratchet head breaking. I know Milwaukee has a 5 year tool warranty, but do they stand behind the ratchet head that long or is a broken head going to be considered abuse?

I think your best bet would be to contact Milwaukee. I know my Home Depot has a Milwaukee rep in store a few days a week, but I think your best bet is to email them. This way you can get a definitive answer on paper and save it. Either save it in your mailbox or print it out and keep it with the owners manual. This way, if it ever does break you'll have a written proof and can argue the reason you bought the tool was for that reason. Unless they say no right from the get go....

I broke mine several times, 2-3 weeks to get it repaired each time, its been sold and replaced, keep in mind M12 stuff is actually 10.8 volts

That was local service center I assume?

E-service has always been 7 calendar days for me. Never sent in a ratchet though.

There's threads here about swapping the heads (3/8 to 1/4 or other way around). I recall the heads being inexpensive....$12 to $15? IOW you don't have a big risk OP.

Yep broke mine 2 times the rubber grip on the handle is not great with automotive fluids either they are cheap tools professionally speaking price wise. I don't go a day with out using mine

E tool service was about 10-14 days from me shipping it to getting it back you will be sorta lost with out it if it broke every couple months I would look for something else maybe the ac delco.

I sent mine in because the motor or switch assembly had an issue (not sure which one). I did e service and got a brand new one in about a week with a note that said they were unable to repair the old one. The warranty process couldn't have been much easier.

My ratchet looked like it was run over by a truck and they didn't seem to care.

My 1/4 is 3 yrs old and used daily. So far no problems. Not abusing is key to longevity. Tech next to me has the snap-on version, seems way more HD. But I could buy 4 Milwaukees for what he paid.

I agree. Mine is about 1.5 years old and used everyday. Never had a problem with it yet. If it ever dies I'll buy another.

I broke the pin on the crankshaft on mine, I ordered it & replaced it myself. I use it everyday and I'm kinda hard on it. Seems like a pretty good tool for what you pay for them.

I have both the 3/8 and 1/4 models and use them everyday. They save tons of time and work really well in tight spots with something like the Tite-Reach added. I broke the 3/8 once last year, my fault using it as leverage to loosen a rusty bolt. Took about a week and a half to send in, have it repaired and be sent back. All under warranty. These tools are definitely worth their asking price!

Broke my trigger & had a new one in 6 days. I talked to the local service center & they said sometimes Milwaukee denies them for abuse & I would have better luck sending it myself. It wasn't blatant misuse but I did break it & was ready to buy another one if denied.

Use mine everyday, works like a champ! If the head wore out I would just buy a replacement head instead of sending it in. $15 is a lot less to spend than to wait a week or two for it to be repaired in my situation.

They are great on there warranty my coworker has sent it off 5 times already even when it's in 2 pieces the batteries can be finake with clips coming apart

Snap on has a much better head imo but bigger and very hard to get into tight spots that Milwaukee can get with ease

I would recommend getting thru dealer if possible vs online because ease of warranty or repair
