Has anyone tried the M12 Right Angle Die Grinder? Initial Impressions?

Debating on whether I want to add it to my collection. I do DIY motorcycle work.

in my opinion if you have a good air supply there's no need. if you don't by all means do it. die grinders use a lot of air, so a cordless one is awesome

I have one, it’s awesome! Quiet and fast. Used it last week with rolocs. So much nicer than messing with air hoses.

I have one, don’t use any battery smaller than a 4ah as it eats the small ones like candy. I run mine on the third rpm setting and use mainly ro-loc discs with it but have had a carbide rotary file in it. I like for the fact if you just need it to touch something up it’s quick has the power and you don’t have drag the air hose over. Compared to pneumatic r/a die grinder it has the amount of power and torque and the barrel(handle) of it is about the same size and the overall length is pretty close as well. The business end is larger in diameter and taller than a pneumatic so getting in some of the smaller areas that you might use a pneumatic ain’t gonna happen.

Overall I’m pleased with mine as when I bought it I didn’t think I’d use it all that much. I found out I was wrong on that thought as I prefer not to have an air hose dangling from the bench while I’m doing a build and am just de-burring cut parts for a mock-up and fit.

It is good tool. The convenience of being able to have a die grinder at any location was the deciding factor for me. I have used mine several times with Roloc disc and burrs. I used it yesterday for de-burring conduit and it beat the hell out of the other options at hand. No hose can be a great thing.

Depends what you are doing. If you are using it in short intervals where space isn’t an issue, they work fine.

My problem is that I use die grinders for extended run times, and also in cramped locations. The M12 eats batteries, and is a bit bulky, particularly at the head, which keeps you from getting in tight spots and corners.

Overall, I’m not a big fan. Electric die grinders have quite a ways to go before they really are competitive with their air powered “equivalents.”
