sweet but bitter. I need this in conjunction with my M18 LED Floodlight (awesome, too) but this would only lead me to buy m12 tools. Not to mention, I gotta by some batteries to go with it!

good deal. I've been waiting for sale since it came out last summer.

the magnetic attachment is also on sale for $15 bucks but I didn't need it.

I just got into the M12 line & love all my Milwaukee tools, but 65-70 bucks for a flashlight. ??!! That seems crazy.
Every time you go into HF you can get a free one. (I know that's cheap junk.... but light is light)
What's so special about this thing that it costs that much?

According to reviews, it's suppose to be a high-end light with high quality LED (220lumens) and uniform light spread/pattern in small size. It also have the 1/4-20 thread and built-in hook for multi-mounting options

I spent additional $85 on m12 rotary w/ two batteries (2.0Ah), bc the light doesnt come with battery, which is still cheaper than my Streamlight Strion 260lumen LED flashlight with two batteries.

It's not a "Slick deal" but lower than every other online retail including eBay.

Lighting is important to me and I would pay for high quality light and high quality batteries (milwaukee gets their cells from Samsung).

I do have that exact craftsman LED for three yrs but the running time was always short.

Looks like they sold out of it online

^I Thought about that 1/4 or 3/8" ratchet but it wouldn't get used much. I can live with the manual turning ratchets as a hobbyist.

Oh, that's disappointing. Samsung has been pretty slow to adopt new chemistries. LG, Sanyo, and Panasonic are a few generations ahead on Li-ion technology.

That said, almost all Li-ion tools nowadays are 18650 cell based, which means you can just swap willy-nilly when the old cells die.

Everybody (makita, dewalt, bosch) are using the same type of chemistry now, that is lithium manganese oxide (LMO). This chemistry is becoming a conventional battery for power tools and e-bike.

Currently, Milwaukee uses Samsung INR18650 13Q (bosch use this) battery cells. You probably can rebuild your M18 battery pack but might not be cost effective, ~$8bucks/ea.

Milwaukee used E-one Moli (or E-Moli, Canadian cell) on their V18 and earlier M18 batteries but I believe it was a lot of trouble. If you look at all M18 batteries now, it's Korean made cells - Samsung.

Dewalt was the first to adopt lithium iron phosphate (A123 brand) for their first li-ion generation battery (stick-in type) but switched to conventional LMO cells. Therefore, I believe Milwaukee is using the best battery cell, based on their tool design, available.

Oh, didn't realize they were all LMO cells.

I'm sure they have their reasons for whatever they choose, but Panasonic released some cells last year (and updated again more recently) that Tesla uses in their cars now, that are NMC based, and are good to 10A continuous discharge and have ~50-75% higher energy density than the best LMO cells. But maybe 10A discharge isn't good enough (the Samsung LMO does 15A)? They're pretty safe as well; a direct short won't take it over 170F or so (per cell, add it in a pack, who knows). Sanyo has something similar, as they are bidding for Tesla's contracts as well. LG has something new that's 4.3v peak that supposedly has better voltage stability, but I can't find the datasheet right now.

how are these compared to the craftsman flood light?

I just received the light and I love it already. I made my own flexible arm using Loc-line w/ strong magnetic base with 1/4"-20 bolt on the other end to attach the light.

The 1/4"-20 thread female just make the light worth every pennies. I wish the m18 flood light had a 3/8"-16 thread hole

The uniformity of the light spread is so great, I can use it for shooting video.

I picked mine up about 3-4 months ago. I have nothing bad to say about it. those other cheapy LED stick lights really dont compare to this light, they dont hold up well their not as bright and their all pretty bulky in comparison..
