M18 Fuel Impact Driver - Sometimes Unresponsive

I've been using this at work every day now for a few months. Never dropped it, never thrown it out of anger, nothing like that. Starting last week, about 10-15% of the time when I pull the trigger it does nothing. I pull the trigger a bunch of times in a row and it starts working and it starts working for a while, then out of no where it messes up again. At times, it will work initially when I pull the trigger, and just completely shut off after holding the trigger for a few seconds. The tool and the battery both are not very old. I've only had to recharge the battery 3 times since I've had it (it gets used every day, but not for long periods of time).

Wondering if anyone knows what this could be.

I haven't had that experience out of any of my Milwaukee tools but I'd say the trigger switch is on the fritz. They have a five year warranty. I'd get in touch with Milwaukee customer service.

I have an M12 non-FUEL impact that does that with one particular battery. That battery works fine on other tools and the tool works fine with other batteries.

You may wish to try swapping batteries, if you have one. If not, take it to service. Even if it does work with a different battery, I'd take both to service.

A co-workers did this after a month of using it. Brought it down to the local repair shop and they said it is a common problem. He fixed it under warranty in just a few minutes. We bought ours off Amazon and he had no issue doing the repair. Didn't even have a receipt. Mine has yet to have the same issue.

This. Print pre-paid FedEx label at Milwaukee's site and you'll have it back within 7 days. Be sure to thoroughly explain the symptoms/problem.

Probably needs a new electronics assemblyif it is the brushless, very common issue.
