Pulled out my M18 inflator today to air up my truck tires to towing pressure. When I first screwed it onto the valve stem and powered on the unit, it only displayed the "target" PSI, and did not display the actual/measured PSI at all (that part of the display was blank). I tried setting the target PSI to 80lbs and hit the inflation button and compressor wouldn't run. I also tried the "manual" fill method of setting target to 0 PSI and holding down the inflation button and it still wouldn't run.
Pulled out the manual and found the troubleshooting instructions about re-zeroing the pressure sensor. I performed that reset, and after doing so and power cycling the unit it correctly showed 0.0 PSI with the unit disconnected. However, it now only shows 0.0 PSI. Connected to a truck tire at 80 PSI it shows 0.0, connected to a truck tire at 60 PSI it shows 0.0, connected to my wife's 35 PSI SUV tire it shows 0.0. I tried a 5, 6 & 8 Ah batteries. It has worked in the past on all of these tires, and if I cover the shrader chuck with my thumb and run the unit manually it builds pressure so I know the chuck/hose is not plugged.
It is at least usable as a manual inflator now, but I would like it to work as intended. Any other ideas to try short of sending it to a service center?
