Ok I pulled trigger on Fuel 7 1/4 circular saw from Acme. From what I have read here at GJ nothing smaller than 5, that should go with 8. Checking around which I know going into this that above a 5 prices skyrocket. Is there a place that has best prices for these Milwaukee batteries or place that actually puts them on sale say like Memorial Day :) or any day?

the 2732 and 2731 Fuel 7-1/4” saws run fine on 5 Ah batteries if you’re not doing super heavy cuts. I run them pretty much exclusively if I’m cutting 3/4” ply or 2x material. If I’m cutting hardwood, stacked sheet goods, or thick aluminum stock then I’ll switch to an 8 Ah high output battery.

Edit: all this with a good, sharp blade. If you’re using an old dull blade then don’t expect the saw to perform nearly as well on smaller batteries.

My M18 rear-handle clearly prefers the bigger batteries. My 5.0 weren't happy at all in that tool - a noticeable difference when I stepped up to the 8.0. Guessing 6.0 would be OK-but-not-great

The 6.0 will actually output as much if not more current than the 8.0.

I have two M18 circular saws. Neither is a Fuel. The saw at home gets old 3.0 or 4.0 batteries and the saw on my service truck sees 5.0 batteries exclusively. I do have 8.0 and 9.0but have never felt the need to use them in those saws.

I’ve been running 5.0 batteries in my saw with absolutely no issues for a few years. I’ve never had any issues with ripping down framing lumber/plywood and I’m always spinning Diablo thin kerf blades. In regards to the best deal on batteries, look for promotions.

The 6.0 batteries that Home Depot had a deal on a week ago for one day work a lot better than the 5.0 due to the fact that they use the same big 2700 cells as the 8.0 packs. Not as much run time but just as much current supplying capability. You've got to look for a deal which are becoming much rarer than they use to be. Milwaukee is apparently trying to dump their 5.0 batteries as that's what they are including in all of their deals currently. They use to give free 8.0 batteries out like candy when you bought a big tool like a super hawg or rear handled circular saw which is how I got mine. Now they ration them like plutonium.

Maybe there is a tool/kit in HD SpecBuy of the Day that gets you a couple batteries? https://www.homedepot.com/SpecialBuy/SpecialBuyOfTheDay

Or there is this from Acme which gets you a "free" bare tool https://www.acmetools.com/m18-redli...battery-pack-2pk-48-11-1862/045242533114.html
Thanks for the heads up. I just ordered the 2-6.0 batteries with the hacksaw. I had planned buying this combo and the price is right. I like the fact that that they include a fuel hacksaw and didn't cheap out with a standard one. Cheapest price I've seen for the saw is about 125 so that's like getting the batteries for $50 each.
