So I picked this sander up a couple years ago and beat the hell out of it. For the past year I have had problems with it stop spinning when pressure was added but started spinning again once the pressure was removed. I took it partly apart to clean and once I put it back together it’s rotates much faster and smoother but when pressure is added it dies completely now any thoughts? I will probably replace it but figured I would ask first.

Milwaukee has a 5 year warranty (based on serial number date of manufacture if you don't have a receipt). If it's not that old then just have them fix it. If you use their online portal they'll give you a prepaid FedEx label. It's a very easy process.
Yeah I didn’t buy it new so fairly certain it’s past the date. That’s why I asked, I normally buy my stuff at flea markets at least my M 18 stuff, I figured it was a longshot, but didn’t know if someone found it with some cheap plastic part I could buy kind of situation.
I dont think that sander has been out for more then 5yrs...

Otherwise, I think youve worn out the drive gear, I bet its a part of a larger assembly that will cost you $$.

I actually got lucky I checked the S number. I still got six months left on the five-year plan and lucky for me about a mile and a half away is one of the Milwaukee repair stores.I dont think that sander has been out for more then 5yrs...

The warrantee and the customer service is why I prefer Milwaukee. There are a lot of companies that make specific tools that are superior to Milwaukee's. For example Metabo grinders, Bosch Saber Saws and rotary hammers, DeWalt's new impact wrenches and I'm sure plenty more but when you factor in the warrantee and the quality of customer support (good old 1-800-SAWDUST) you can't beat Milwaukee.
Yeah I generally follow the battery platform rule. Stick with the batteries you got.
