Hey everybody -

I just uploaded a full comparison video w/torque testing for the top 3 models of 1/2" Stubby Impacts made by M7 (Mighty Seven).

They are :

NC-4611Q
NC-4630Q
NC-4232Q

I know that there has been a lot of interest about these & other brands recently.....and while this particular video is solely about the 3 M7 models.....I will be releasing a comparison video with other stubby impacts soon (M7, CP, Astro, & possibly Aircat).

All of them have advantages/disadvantages.....so hopefully if you are considering one, this will help make your decision easier.

Thanks!

Great test and review. I am really looking forward to the test of the Astro Nano. I got one about a month ago and am very happy with it. Just like to see how it stacks up against the others.

Thanks for all your work.

Wow 15 seconds. That sounds pretty generous for a working figure. As long as they are all (different brands) used that way, should be useful. Although a graph would be nice, not that I'm asking for one.

I've been using the 4611 as my go to gun for a couple years now, love it. Can count on 1 hand the number of times I've had to drag out the big IR gun. Thanks for the video, nice to see the size and power compared, was thinking about upgrading to a more powerful unit, but I really like the size of the 4611, so I think I'm good.

As always Woodstock love your videos and appreciate you focusing on working torque and not ******** breakaway torque figures. Also dig the blistering metal guitar jams while I watch.

Interesting torque results on those guns considering the ratings. Do you think the numbers would change with a break in period on the three contestants? I have noticed my IR 2235timax got even stronger after the first month of use. I figure it got limbered up with some hard use. I really notice it on the lowest torque setting at free speed.

Thanks! The Astro just came in yesterday....I am surprised how small it is & also the comfort grip!

Well.....some manufacturers go for 10 seconds, others 30 seconds, others "who knows"....

Unlike the tool manufacturers, I am standardizing testing across the board.....that way you, me, and everyone else who watched my reviews can see the real differences between them. Not just some marketing angle that they came up with to beat the competition.

Nice! Yes, the 4611 is my favorite out of the 3....the best combo of all features as far as I am concerned.

Thanks! I am glad you like the approach I am taking with these torque tests!

It would definitely be possible that the power levels could go up or down.....I wouldnt be able to answer that though, since these are pretty new impacts. Perhaps 454ragtop could add in with the results that the 4611 has achieved over the last 2 years (power wise....and did it change).

You should do a review for astro's new onyx compact 1/2

Coming up soon! Comparison video with Astro, M7, & CP!

Considering the inconsistencies between paper specs and your results something is off so much so that I don't think you should even bother listing them for comparison. I have the 3/8" version of this and it doesn't impress me at all. It as no balls in reverse comparative to a normal 3/8" impact and you're telling people its capable of 400+ foot pounds, which I'll tell you right now in the real world its not going to touch.

Don't get me wrong I think your numbers are great and show tangible differences between a family of impacts that you test, I would just cease using published numbers as a baseline because honestly, its just going to confuse people into thinking their impact is more powerful, in some cases substantially so, than listed. Not to mention the variances in manufacturer testing which actually make published specs worthless on a comparison basis.

Anyway better off saying impact A is better than impact B by 20% and leaving it at that instead of going a step further and implying its 140% of some very specific spec (which you most likely aren't duplicating) or something similarly vague/misleading.

Well, specifically why I referred to them as "500, 600, & 700 ft-lb versions" is because if you are looking at them online, that is what will make sense when you watch the video....since that is how they are being advertised.

Personally I do not like the "Max Torque" aka "Breakaway Torque" aka "Nutbusting Torque" specs.....if you can call them "specs".....since they are more-so merely a marketing gimmick.

By using the Skidmore-Wilhelm & having consistent testing across the board....we can all see REAL numbers on these things.

Just wait until I finish up these videos on the "High-Torque" impacts....I think a lot of people are going to be surprised on the difference between listed & actual specs.

Yep like I said I think that's great info since its a baseline comparison for everything you test as opposed to cherry picked manufacturer tests that can be all over the place. I just wouldn't bother with the % over/under spec number. Your numbers are all that matter.

Nice comparison. Interesting to see solid numbers on different models with the same air and tester.

I really wish I had gone with an M7 instead of the Sunex SX231P. Those things look really nice, and I still need to go try to clean out my Sunex to see if it will work correctly again. Possibly it's gummed up as most of the time it won't spin if you pull the trigger. You have to manually start the socket turning and then it will run until it stops spinning again. I've only used it probably 4 or 5 times and it's doing this. At least with the rebate it wasn't very expensive.
