I had my hands on the Mac 20v 1/2" drive and 12v 3/8" drive impacts yesterday. My Mac dealer had no issue saying right from the start that they are made for Mac by DeWalt and that the batteries are interchangeable. Considering if you look closely on the tool and the battery they both say DeWalt it's probably a good idea to lead with that. My dealer was quick to follow up that statement by saying both were rated at a higher torque but that he did not have any numbers right on hand.

they have a larger motor and a stronger gearbox with more torque, but are otherwise dewalts. as my dealer said today, mac owns dewalt so mac told them "make us a stronger version and rebrand it." dewalt didn't like it, but did anyways. at least, that's how he put it.

Mac does not own Dewalts, though they are both under Stanley.

I never really liked Dewalt impact guns, as they were too bulky for the little amount of power they had. The only redeeming part of the newer 20v gun is that it actually has a real trigger and not the crappy rocker switch. If the new mac guns are more powerful, then good for them. They need it.

Macs owned by stanley which also owns dewalt... I kinda doubt they told dewalt to do anything.

It seems like a quality piece. Nice balance. Not overly heavy. Great battery life. Gun is made in tiawan. Batterys made in japan. So not to bad. Very powerfull the batteries work in my 20v dewalt sawzall.

i understand that, that's just what my dealer said today when i was on the truck. didn't feel like arguing over the exact ownership though.

I just bought one today. I had a lug nut removal race on an old 3500 wrecker versus a co-workers Milwaukee. I won by a little bit but he payed $200 less for his. I have alot of Dewalt tools so it still makes sense for me.
