I didn't see that you purchased them. I don't think there is a difference, especially since the part number is exactly the same. Not only are you getting the cool older packaging you saved about $120.

It looks like the one I bought has new packaging? It looks clean and new atleast.

Well I say it's a good deal considering what they cost brand new. I could be mistaken about the packaging. But it does have an older look to it compared to what I see on the Mac truck.

It could be that you bought a NOS(New Old stock) item

Yea my favorite sockets. Its probably because when I was a young lad of 13 it was the first expensive sockets I found in a junk tool drawer at my old shop. Since then I bought the whole metric set.

Look at the 3 deep sockets on the left and the 4 deep sockets on the right. Notice how the deep sockets on the left narrow down on the tops and the deep sockets on the right narrow down at the base. Only MAC sockets do that. I think that feature makes the sockets look really trick. They're also the thinnest 1/4 drive sockets you can get. MAC sockets have some excellent features that set them apart from other sockets on the market if you're able to see the differences.

Those sockets are not only fine, they are the best. Better than Snap-on in my opinion. They have thinner walls than Snap-on, and I like the way they narrow the base or the neck (depending on the size.)

Thinner walls, can you show that? I am doubting that claim. :headscrat

One thing I like on the MAC sockets is the end of the socket on the ratchet is beveled and that helps get in areas than have full width at the base of the ratchet/breaker bar.

Something the others don't have MAC does and one of the reasons I prefer them.

I am not following this, do you mean the inside square is beveled?:headscrat
