Hi Y'all
Lockdown has its upside I've bitten the bullet and bought the locking flex head ratchet from Mac.
It's the 13 inch long version.I know it's not 100 o/o USA made but the quality is outstanding.

If only it had a grip not copied from a broom handle.

grips are a matter of personal opinion, you either love them or hate em. Personally, I'm ok with the MAC comfort grip shape, texture, & feel but, i do wish it was replaceable.

Now, when you talk of the all metal axis ratchet handle, well PROTO got the best handle shape somehow. Those twin knurled bands on a tapered handle are definitely a winner-winner-chicken dinner in my book.:beer:

I actually really like the Mac soft grip. Doesn't seem as 'sticky' or soft as Snap On's grip.

I know. I just like making fun of stuff I don't like. I hear you on the knurled bands but why isn't the top concave like the bottom? I don't want my hand slipping up or down.

I'm not sure why this is so hard. Look at a high end pistol grip. The "palm swell' conforms to your hand shape. Curl your fingers and look in the hole. You will see a volume increase at your two middle fingers and a narrower space by the pointer and pinky fingers. The overall size of each hand is different but the general geometry is not.

I like the Mac Axis ratchets, have 5 of them. Dont care much for the Snap-on comfort grip but I am impressed with the Mac. Have a 18" Axis 1/2 drive non locking flex head with the comfort grip . Strong yoke design and the handle doesnt seem to get gritty or spongy like the Snap-on

Newest is a 9" 1/4 drive . Chrome handle size and balance is perfect. Snap-on with the skinny handle and large dual 80 head in 1/4 drive is not quite right

Also have a 13" 3/8 ratchet like the OP but in the straight chrome handle version. Last picture is mine comparing the Mac to a Snap-on FL80. The FL80 is one of my most used ratchets. Just like that particular length

Have you got a photo of the Proto ratchet?

These are my 1/4 & 3/8 version.
