Mac Backorder?

My Mac guy comes for the most part every week and he is an employee of another Mac guy who is local, so it's not his truck. The problem that I'm running into is that when I want something from the flier, he almost never has it and it seems to take weeks to get it. I mean, sometimes months. I would think that you would have this stuff ready to roll on the truck.

Is all of this stuff really always sold out an on backorder or is it their responsibility to order enough to keep in stock? It's hard to tell if he is BSing me or not. Sometimes I feel like he is just forgetting to order the stuff for me when. He doesn't have it.

typical Mac, they have been doing that for years. The only way to get the deals is if the dealer orders enough a head of time, otherwise you will be waiting for 6 months.

No its not that its sold out. Most of the time if its a promo item like that they order in advance to get the price and inventory allocation, if they under order it can be difficult to get more. That or they **** at paying their tool bill to Mac so they get put on tool hold untill they pay down.

Yeah my dealers the same way, might have a few of the deals but usually it's order and wait and a few times it's been a month wait. Snap On usually has most of the flyer stuff on his truck, I remember when the current 14.4 came out on promotion because he must of had 20+ sets on the truck and the next week all were gone.

Ok, good info. Fortunately my guy leaves down the street from me and I can meet up with him anytime. It's just disappointing to not get the stuff in your hand right away. I need to work on my patience.

This. To add to this, its not a perfect indicator by any means, but you can also check online, or if its a promo call MAC, and see if you can order it direct. If its available but your dealer says its weeks out then you know its a dealer issue not a supply one.

The guy shouldn't be handing out fliers unless he can get the items real quick; or better yet, have them on the truck already.

I have found mac to be much better in years past. When I first started out, I bought a lot of mac. Some pretty common things took months. With job changes, I had three different mac guys in a 5 year span and it was all the same so I kind of rule out crappy dealers. Went about 10 years without a mac guy, now have had one for a few years. I don't recall anything that took more than two weeks to get. Most of what buy these days is pretty odd stuff and no problems. I don't buy much out of flyers, just look for the hidden car.

It doesn't work that way. MAC isn't the only one guilty of this. All of the tool trucks i've dealt with over the years have had issues once in awhile when an item has a supply snag, is more popular than they thought it would be, or the tool truck dealer didn't or couldn't afford to order these items.

It happens. :wtf: Hell, even NAPA ran out of their long 1/2 drive ratchets that were on sale last quarter then, relisted them at a higher price this quarter without any in stock to sell.:shocking: Now that's great marketing!!

I've never had to back order anything that's on either the Snap on or Mac flyers. Like other mentioned, it's up to the dealer to order enough of those items before hand. There's probably something wrong with either the dealer or conflict between the dealer and corporate if your dealer doesn't have the flyer items on the truck ready to sell.

Those Mac flyers are printed out at least a month before the sale starts. Plenty of time for the dealer to get in inventory.

My Mac dealer is really good. Anything special order is on the truck the next week. From the Mac warehouse in Ohio, through the border and to the west coast of Canada within a week is not bad. For extra charge, the dealers can air freight items in the next day.

As others have mentioned, some dealer vs. corporate issues going on.
