Mac cracked sockets

I just bought and cleaned up some Mac impact sockets and after oiling them I noticed that the 1-1/16 had several hairline cracks. My question is that after the Mac name and the socket part number there are smaller number/letter stamping in the sockets that I dont see on other Mac sockets.

Does this mean the socket was turned into a Mac dealer and he stamped it as a reject and then sold it?
I dont want anything I didnt earn so Im not going to a Mac truck and try to get a free one anyway, I just wanted to know what the little stamps mean.

Thanks

I tried to upload a photo but my wife's not here, I'll get help later.

If you don't know what the stamp means, why do you suspect it means the socket was a reject?

What specific letters/numbers are in the stamp?

Did you buy the sockets new or used?

I bought the sockets off ebay. I have bought sets of Mac impact sockets in the past and it seems the cracked, a** torn out sockets all have those small stamping and the good ones dont. I dont buy enough to know for sure, just with what I've bought that's how it is.

If that's now it it, I'll know to avoid those sockets on ebay.

Occasionally manufacturers of tools will make items for government, military or even commercial accounts and depending on the nature of the tool or the intended use, they will mark the tools "no warranty" "no guarantee" or similar.

Is this what you are seeing on the sockets?

They mean something i'm sure...but I dont know what....i've seen em mostly on old sockets, without running up into the toolbox, I cant remember if new ones have em. Never paid attention...Those "codes" were also on an extension and on a Torx bit I had exchanged not long ago.

Mail it to MAC and they will send you a new one. I had one that we cracked so I called MAC and they said send it in and they would send me a new one.

Sure enough, a week later I got it.

The part number was VDP306 but i dont remember any other markings other than MAC, the part num, and USA.

Don't worry about the hairline cracks. Just use it until it splits wide open. Wear eye protection.

Call or Email MAC tools first. If the tool is under warranty MAC will send you a shipping number so you will not have to pay for shipping.
