Picked up a used set of MAC Edge 1/2 drive standard shallow impact sockets.I've got deep sets of impact sockets, never really just needed a shallow set.Are these gimmicky or do they really do the job for grip/rounded bolts? I havent had a chance to try them on anything yet.

I have a few Mac shallow impact and they work for me,unless someone else has rounded off the nut. Then I use a twist socket but they have to be really bad for this purpose.
Occasionally I switch from metric to US sizes first.
I purchase mostly used so I have complete sets but different brands.

So you would say they do more than a average impact socket would do?

We had a bolt with a badly rounded 12mm head, at work, and did a little comparison between a Craftsman, a Snap-on and a Mac Edge socket. Cman didn't grip the bolt at all. Snap-on almost gripped it, but not quite. Mac Edge gripped and removed, no problem. I think the Mac Edge sockets are made in Tawiwan. But hey, it worked and has a lifetime guarantee.

Good to know. I picked them up with a bunch of other tools so I was trying to justify keeping them or selling them to get some of my money back out of them. I do work on some older rusty vehicles so being SAE sized, they may be beneficial.
