Well I have been a Mac hater for awhile now. I have been unimpressed with the stuff they are selling these days and the Mac guy stops at the shop next door and wont stop by us. I had an old 3" 3/8 extension that for some reason wouldnt fit into most sockets, especially well used ones. The male square measured pretty far over any other extension I have. So I went next door to ask one of the truck mechanics to exchange it for me. The next day Dave (guy from next door) brought me over the new extension. Its one of the new style with the knurling on the female drive end. I have to say I really like it and have been using it a bit over my snap on 3".The old # was X3E, New is X3EK. I just wanted to post something positive about a company I am usually negative about.

They have the best knurling out there, on the female and on the shaft. Only problem is they do not offer that in 1/2 drive, but I have them for 3/8 and 1/4.

Does mac make their extensions or are they a danaher product? The major reason I use SK and Snap On is because I know who made them. Since they made them in house you can expect some form of pride went into them.

You might be thinking of Matco there Hpozzuoli.

I like Mac (USA) extensions, especially the little 1/4 drive with the knurling on the end.

Mac dealer service that I've had was for the most part good too.

I would guess he meant to ask is it USA made or a Stanley off shore (Taiwan) product?

Too my knowledge, they are still USA made, but I could be mistaken.

So you consider it a sound business attribute when you have to return defective items through an intermediary?

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing.

The dealer's business practices reflect poorly on MAC. Even though it's not MAC's doing, they are represented ultimately by the dealer and his interactions with the customer.
