I was wondering what the COO on currently sold Mac Impact Sockets is. I am not really interested in hearing about really old sets (unless you want to sell them cheap to a poor young mechanic who is stuck in the Chinese era) so please offer input only if you actually have experience with what Mac is selling now. I am more interested in where the 3/8 and 1/2 inch sets are made but I want to know more about all of them. I don't want to waste money on Asian rubbish. Thanks.

Ask your dealer if you can look at them if they say Taiwan hand them back and buy the expert line.

All the USA made MAC impact sockets will have an 'R' at the end of the part number. For example: VDP619MMR is a 1/2 inch drive deep impact socket in the size 19mm. All the USA made impact socket sets will come in a red steel socket tray. You can't miss them. Download the 2014 catalog and you will see them plain as day.

You bought precision torque impacts. They have ridges offset in the socket wall to help dig into corroded fasteners. They're Taiwan but don't lose any sleep over it, they're good tools.

I have some MAC sockets that have Sabina on it but no USA. I am assuming those are either Taiwan or China.

Nope, those are USA made. To the op, the Taiwan Mac sockets are still great impact sockets. Nothing to worry about.

Lol Asian ****... After reading that, I feel like even if I pointed you to magical impact sockets that will loosen any fastener no matter how seized, even if the **** is fused. That never worn down and will look like the day you bought them despite being 20year old. If you whisper some secret word the sockets will start levitating and practically do all your work for you while you can sit back on a lawn chair and sip on beers. Hell they even clean themselves and somehow help you perform better at your job AS WELL as in the bed room and allow you to bang your wife/of all night long....

But nope, its made in Tawian so never mind....

/facepalm

^ No ones saying that at all.

I have both us made and taiwan mac impacts, both are good, the taiwan ones they had on sale in a flyer and were a good price, but for the regular price of them, i wouldnt notice a difference in use between mac and sunex.

Mac Edge vs Mac USA

Precision Torque is slightly different, the teeth are closer to the corners of the socket
