Hi guys,

I've looked everywhere on here before I started this thread and cannot seem to find thoughts on MAC vise-grips. Are they just re-branded vise-grips?

Thanks again gentleman,

Taylor

Vise-grip itself is owned by Newell Rubber Maid. Best of my knowledge they aren't owned by Stanley Works. The MAC branded ones I have do look a lot
like a vise grip though.

No. even China Vice grips won't stoop as low to make that **** that Mac is putting out. I have 10 pairs of them. They are just one step above Buffalo. Pure junk. I was very disappointed after I bought mine. It's one of the last straws that broke the camels back between me and MAC tools

Petersen, AKA Visegrip, used to make the pliers for MAC. Not sure who does now.

I have a pair and after many years of use and abuse the teeth are beginning to wear down. Other than that they have been excellent and are a dead ringer for vise grips. I think it's safe to say mine are of a different, earlier generation than the ones Mrholeshot has.

Hahaha this is a funny short story....when they first strated making these, i think like 2-3 years ago (???), Mac would run them constanlty in the flyer for like $80-100 for a decent sized set in a roll bag. My Mac dealer recommended that we NOT purchase these junkies. He told us straight up.....they don't even compare to Irwin's. Just like the Lock-Jaw's which they say are also junk compared to Irwin. Asian junk

MY mac grips also ****. They put them in that 10 pack that is so tempting, and the first time you use them the teeth shear off. You can warranty them but whats the point? you just end up with another pair that ***** balls

:+1:

I bought the 10 piece set a few years back. First time I used them it stripped the teeth off the pliers!!:headscrat Dealer warrantied them with a set of Irwin's, that speaks volumes about the quality....

It's the same way I got mine. I ASSUMED they were standard MAC quallity made in the USA. Bottom line is I got hosed, MAC lost my business and the reason I question that isn't marked made in USA or doesn't have USA on it when they claim it is. Then I went and looked at my MAC srewdrivers that had Taiwan on the handle and Needlenose made in China.

I wish my dealer had been so honest. May have saved a customer that way. They still have a dew things I like but the gap is very narrow now

I guess they've dumbed down photo editing software to the point folks who can't spell are able to use it.

I got the 10 piece bag too. Mine came with everything in the cardboard boxed that was shipped from, you guessed it.........CHINA. The box clearly said made in China. I said to the dealer, WTF? He got a little defensive and demanded they were made to MACs specs. I had already paid for them, they were special ordered, so I took them. I haven't had any problems, but I don't use them very often. I always tend to reach for my already beat to **** VGs. But, I think that Irwin is making a lot of stuff in China now too.
