Was heading to a job today and drove by a scrap yard. Seen a few tool boxes sitting by the giant claw machine playing around in one of the piles. Joked about stopping after the job was done and ended up actually stopping.

Worker said he'd sell the box for $700 because the guy that dropped it off said that's what the company paid for it. Ended up agreeing to $150 because it had some damage, primarily from the fact it was thrown in a truck with a bunch of other metal. The other boxes were smashed in from being on the bottom of the pile except a craftsman bottom box with only one dent that's easy to fix.
So the fun part is it had some corporate stuff on it(location, dept, section, and of course the corporate logo) and it would've probably been fairly good condition if it hadn't been through the scrap bin.
Got it back to the shop and fixed what I could and removed all the stickers and paperwork. The top hatch was 3/8 forward so dents had to be worked out and hinge reset. Other than that it was primarily average dents, noticable dent on bottom box drawer. Couldn't do it perfectly but the box doesn't have any issues now and is in my office with my other two boxes. End of the day now I have enough room to keep getting more stuff for my collections.

Don't know how old it is (assuming probably late 80s-90s) or what it's actually worth as is. Also it is missing the piece of metal to pull it, both sides but probably came with just one, and I'm assuming it was just bent 1/8 plated steel. Also missing the hatch stops, the two pieces of metal that keep the hatch from opening too far.
