I found an older Mac tool box for sale locally. It's a mb1300. It's pretty dirty and the lowest narrow drawer is dented but other then that it's pretty sound. Anyone have thoughts on its? Any idea on a fair price? I don't know how they compare to Snap On prices...The top is an older Matco.

Considering that's the early version of the current maximizers which is Mac's top of the line box and very comparable to an SO KRL series, it's a built like a tank box.

I looked at a 1350 that was probably about that age & condition. Main reason I didn't buy it is it was too tall to use as a work surface. It was by far the best built box I've ever seen. It was $1500 & I thought that was a good price. I'd probably offer about that much for the one you're looking at if the top is included. If not I'd still pay that for the bottom. I hate haggling but it seems to be the norm. Some people inflate the asking price because they expect to negotiate & other people are insulated if you go too low.

Thanks.$1500-1800 would be fair for top and bottom then you think?

I was thinking $1500, but start lower. Remember these two things, you can't go back down once you make an offer and if you're not embarrassed by your first offer, it isn't low enough. Offer $1000 and go from there.
