I know there isn't a lot of people on here that are mac fans but wondering if any of you have used the mac pry bars. There are some guys in the shop that have the mac set they seem to like them. No one has the snap on set. I am looking to upgrade from my craftsman set. Just looking for advice.

I have both. A few of the macs are thicker than the snappys. I like them both. Had the mac set for three years and has held up great.

I have had both, wrecked both rebuilding dozer tracks. Mac warrantied mine, snapon called it abuse (it was). Still running the Mac ones, have the full set. Limited flex and the tips hold up well until you wedge them between a track nut and chain and hit it with a 2" impact. Not much holds up to a roller mounted gun that can twist off 3/4" bolts.

Are you upgrading from the red handle craftsman or the black cman pro's?

The Snap-on pry bars tolerate amazing abuse, I know many people that have them. I have no opinion of the Mac product, as I haven't used them, nor do I know anyone that does. That's really all I have to say.

The snappys have a nicer handle IMO. Not that the macs are bad. I have them and have no complaints. Just a ***** to clean.

But I have seen snappys with shattered handles on his truck (dont know how it happened). Never seen a broken mac.

I think short of major abuse both will be fine, if I were to do it again I would save some coin and go Mayhew even though I love my macs.

I have both the Mac has been warrantied for the handle, no questions asked. The Mac bars go on a little better promo price usually a few times a year than the snappys, I haven't seen a great price on the snap on in several years.

This...
Between the 2, I'd buy based on price and driver. I had wanted the green handled MAC's but just so happened my SO guy had the green handled ones on promo last spring first so he got my business. Of course, a little bit later the MAC's came on sale
Either way, both good bars.

Ordered the four piece snap on variety for 180 (ish). The next day my driver shows up with the same set with black handles for 105.00. Bought the black handles.

I got the Craftsman pro set. I plan to get another pry bar that's longer than the 24" I have. I've been thinking Snap on but I'm not sure yet.

I'm a DIY that used to be a full time tech. I have a mix of pry bars, including Mac, Snap-on, Mayhew and even one old Herbrand. All have worked well but the Mayhew Dominator seems like a best buy for the money if you need a bar that you can pound on the end.

I see snap ons with shattered handles all the time, however I have never broken one, been using same set for 19 years. Working outdoors in plants and dropping them in frigid winter temps is what brakes the handles.

After buying a used S-O striking pry bar and it taking a slew of demolition abuse, I bought a set of them and a longer one. I love them.

I have no experience with the Mac bars, unfortunately.

Snappy's have really long handles. Sometimes it hinders me in tight spots, when using the short pry bar. But macs are just as good as snappy.
Looking back, i would have just got the Mayhew's, and had some $$ left over for other stuff.

They are equal but given cold weather conditions the snap on handles will break in -20, -30 C. broken every size hammering on them on big equipment. The Mac rubbery handles will hold up, Ive had both. That said, there is no Mac dealer anywhere close to me so I own all snap on. My dealer knows they break in the cold and never gives me grief.
